So, what did the OP decide about the deal offered in the end? Good, bad, indifferent? Is there now a proud Fiesta owner paying £65 per month for a car?0

To pay £65 a month, have to tip a lot of deposit in. And over what term?
You can pay whatever you want a month, you can pay 2p, but you have to make it up somehow.0 -

I agree with you, but then I am a fan of leasing. However, for all sorts of reasons, it isn't always right for everyone. The OP came on here and asked a specific question, and got a lot of responses, before the thread went off topic. I just wondered what they decided to do after all the feedback they got. £65 per month = deposit to pay and probably a large final payment or hand the car back and hope there is equty left. It may suit their circumstances, we don't know.
Just curious I suppose!0 -
ling seriously all those safety features you are going on about have been aroud for years
the mondeo had all the mentioned safety features back in the year 2000
if you want to hire a bottom of the range 3 door fiesta for £2650-00 a year then ling is your girlremember it is nice to be important
but more important to be nice0 -
What a cracking thread !! Ling, don't worry you will never persuade some of the "old folk" about leasing.
I'm a great fan (currently a Ling customer actually) and why on earth anybody would want to own a depreciating car now is just beyond me. OK I am spoilt that I have a company car as my main drive and I just say "I want that one and it arrives for a bit of tax payment" but I'm on my 6th or 7th lease car for my wife. Swapping them every 12-24 months.
I know how much I am spending each month, I'm not worried about how much it will be worth in 2 years and she gets a brand new car each time. Payments range from £100 to £200 a month. Yes a lot of money to some, but on the flip side not a lot to others. I've not paid road tax for over 6 years, you just insure and go and pay for an oil change/basic service if you are on a 24 month lease.
Don't be so dismissing of leasing, to me it is perfect economic sense.0 -
Year 2000 Mondeo, did they crash test that car? How does it compare with later model?
Credit Crunch, don't misrepresent my cars or prices.
It is 1.4 TDCi Style which incl aircon, and your price is way out.0 -

No amount of safety features are going to overcome the basic physics of a car hitting a concrete object at high speed.
Car sales is a fashion based industry, based about telling someone that a new one is much better than the old one.
Lets assume that, actually, yes, the cars produced today are indeed much, much better in every way.
What will happen in 5 years time? The sales teams will be saying "oh, cars from 5 years ago are really dangerous and inefficient, you need a new one".
Car sales are in the main based on how a person perceives a car to look, allied to the degree of lack of self esteem inherent in each person.
Hence the strong resistance to Skoda in the early days inspite of it being an excellent vehicle.
very few people are concerned with how a car drives or we would all be driving Mondeo's.
Free choice should be banned ,oops sorry apparently it already is, as we live in an alleged democracy.0 -
