  • newish. And suggesting Ocado deliveries if possible for you as they now sell Noosh as well as loads more vegan stuff than other supermarkets.

Thanks, I signed up with them on your recommendation, but sadly, they don't deliver here yet :(

  • Hi I am attempting veganuary! I am coming into this after going veggy a year ago. I am looking at doing a big monthly shop of essentials online when my student money comes in. So far I have added to my virtual basket:
    Big bag of pasta
    Rice
    tins of tomatoes
    lentils
    frozen onions
    frozen stir fry veg
    veg stock cubes
    curry paste
    butter beans
    refriend beans
    frozen veg mince
    2 nut roasts
    frozen chips
    frozen peppers
    chickpeas
    bread
    linda mcartney sausages
    tomato puree
    coconut milk
    uht plant milk
    vegan pesto
    Linda mcartney burgers

I will get fresh veg from Lidl/ Aldi and already have a cupboard full of herbs, spices and condiments. Is there anything I'm missing?

I think something for your breakfast, maybe?

  • I've been makig my own soy yogurt and pop it with some museli in a coffee cup to eat on the morning train.

Yet to find edible vegan cheese except cream style.

Now that would suit me better as I am cutting back on sugar, as well.

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

    Weight loss 3 stone :D

For pizza I used the VBites mozzarella. My family also like the VBites parmesan. I like the medium cheddar from Tesco Free From (which is made by Bute Island Foods - and they have a huge range of cheeses. Sadly they don't deliver here). Mind you I'm the only one in my family who does like it. I agree with you though, it's hard to find a decent vegan cheese.

I know they are controversial in many circles but for those interested in the Quorn vegan chicken-style pieces, Asda currently have a "4 for £6" offer, which reduces the price per pack from £2.50 to £1.50.

As they're frozen, it's easy to just stick them in the freezer until needed.

What do you think of the new Quorn?

We braved Asda as OH wanted to try it. I thought the burger was OK, but wasn't bothered about the pieces, I didn't think they added much to my cooking, OH liked them though.

I'm glad to be back to normal cooking this week, we tend to have a fair bit of processed stuff when we visit people over Christmas, I've never been so glad to make something myself.

Just thought I'd plug this recipe, which I make a lot:

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1364/spicy-root-and-lentil-casserole

We had it for dinner last night. Not only is it vegan, it's super cheap, filling and yummy.
