Hockeyduo I'm so so sorry to hear your very sad news. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family.

Mioliere - how do you find the co-op? I have been thinking about getting my groceries there as I'm increasingly reluctant to prop up the 'big' supermarkets' dubious policies by spending any money there. There's a co-op a few miles away but I never seem to have time to make it down there for a reccy.0

Lots of things to remember...
Ladymay - welcome to this lovely place - people even put up with me here!
HockeyDuo - so sorry to hear your news. It is so hard when it is a sudden shock.
MoneySavingDiva - thinking of you and in my prayers. The waiting is the worst.
Candygirl - fingers crossed for your darling daughter. I hope she is able to relax a little at the moment.
Meanmarie - I am glad that Luca is a bit more chirpy today.
Little bear has just come back from playgroup. They broke the news that chicken pox is on its way round. I was slightly unimpressed, but it is better for him to get it now that later. Well, for the first time he played with the water table - soaked! Then for the first time he played with the paints - I don't need to describe him do I? Mainly red and orange with a lovely dash of purple! I scraped the worst off the clothes while I was there. I brought his first playgroup painting home.
So I have changed him, fed him some cheese on toast and any minute now I shall leap off the computer and get his nappy checked and let him have a nap.
So this afternoon holds washing, and I want to iron, clear and sort the dining room. I may go as far as getting rid of bookcases. Tea is ratatouille and baked potatotes. I love ratatouille - though mine is not a classic version and tonight will include celery and carrot because that is what needs using up.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Afternoon all. Golly i'm late on here today! I've been running around (very slowly and asthmatically!) like a blue bottomed fly these past two days and haven't had chance to sit down and read all your fabulous posts about what you are all getting up to!
OS things i'm doing today....well i went to Mr M's to buy a few more packs of there 75p baked beans they have on offer at the moment...my daughter is crazy about beans and toast so it they will keep her going for a while....she is 17 and a student so it's good preparation for when she moves out i suppose. Not sure if she is going to a university close by or far away when she has left college, but at least i know she can 'cook' one thing!
I just cleaned my cooker oven with stardrops and it has come up a treat, i'd say it's about 75% cleaner than it was before i cleaned it.
Now i've got to go and sort out the meat i bought at Sainsburys last night. I am going to makes some homemade meatballs. Yum!
Also i managed to get my old upright chest freezer back in my kitchen...so i am going to be doing lots of baking and batch cooking soon!
Hope you are all having a really good OS day. Love n hugs to all :jGrocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Spent yesterday visiting DD at Newcastle and it really did me good to see her.
Need to get some paperwork done quickly and posted this afternoon and then think of something to make for tea tonight.
Might make mince and tatties as we have not had that for a while and it's nice and quick.
Hello to Ladymay
Ginger is supposed to be good for morning sickness so maybe nibbling a biscuit before she gets up would help.
Need to dash off to post office so see you all later.
Big hugs"This site is addictive!"

Silvercharming - there are several reasons why I shop at the Co-op. They are a little dearer for some things - not all - than the other big name stores, but they don't have long long queues at the tills; they don't get overcrowded like Mr S and Mr T; they don't have massive choices of things - I don't see why we have to have a choice of several different apples, or loaves of bread, say, when half the world is desperate for just one meal a day. In fact, that was the main reason I stopped doing my big food shops in the bigger stores; I used to look at the vast displays of stuff and imagine the look of disbelief on the face of someone from a really poor country, whose family was starving. The Co-op's meat is produced on their own British farms and is always excellent; they are phasing out their carrier bags even though they are biodegradeable, and have been for a number of years; they have started leaving all the boxes out for people who forget their own bags, like all shops used to, years ago; they are anti-blood sports; their dividend scheme is great; you don't get targeted by junk mail based on your shopping, which is what the other loyalty cards do. Instead of points or airmiles, they give you money off vouchers to use at the till. I had almost £100 last year - great for Christmas!
Those are the main reasons, but I am now trying more and more of their own-brand stuff - I can't tell their beans from Heinz, their drinking chocolate is better than Cadbury's, and I am working my way through all their other things now. I will admit to using my local Sainsbury's now and again (it's near my bank), but purely for convenience; I can be half an hour in there even if I am buying just one or two things. I can get my whole week's shopping in the Co-op and be back in the car within half an hour! So it's no contest. I suppose we all have our own reasons for liking a particular shop, so I quite understand other people who like Tesco or Sainsbury's - it's what you are used to, isn't it?
Well, I bet you wish you hadn't asked now! I think the Co-op should pay me commission now, after all that advertising! I would definitely give your Co-op a try. Mine is less convenient to get to than the local Sainsbury's because it's in the next village, but I save time when I'm there, so it's worth the extra couple of miles in the car.

Wow! Thank you for all the welcome messages
Singing lesson got cancelled today, so I made the most of my time by making a batch of soup - leek and sweet potato (both on special offer in MrS) - mmmmm! Very good for the cold weather - it's beautiful sunshine here in Surrey, but it's bloomin' freezing!
Much as I'd love to go for a nap I'm trying to resist so this afternoon I'm going to sort out my cupboards so I know what I need when I go shopping, tidy the bedroom and get on with some studying. Got rehearsals at 7.00 (I'm a drama student) and then I'm going out to see some bands tonight

Today I have.....
Baked Twinkies hobnobs and also made the Weetabix cake for OH lunchbox. Been out into the chicken run and collected todays eggs which I have made into Egg Mayonnaise for OH sandwiches...I have baked the egg shells ready to go back out into their feed for tomorrow...Used the rest of the venison I had to make Venison burgers....
I still have to ......walk the dogs, bake the bread, clean out the chicken house, refresh the duck pond and entertain the baby!!!
Am currently using up the last of the shop bought detergent so that I can start using Laundry Gloop and OH has kindly donated my Beeswax and turpentine so that I can make some homemade furniture polish.....
OH is being sent into the fields this weekend to ''get'' some bunnies so that I can make sausages and burgers...If they are OK and the egg production continues in the chicken house, I may start seeling a few bits and pieces to friends for a bit of pocket money......
Oh well...best be off...so much to do and so little time!!!
Have a nice day y'all!!!
