Morning Chums ,blooming chilly here in North Kent, looks like we may get some more of the white stuff .Roll on the spring.I am going to get my shopping a day early and am going to make sure that I have enough bread and milk stored just in case I can't get out. I'm not very good on snow and ice, and at my age I don't 'bounce' very well either. A cousin sent me a gadget from Canada that I can fix to the bottom of my walking stick, but it only works in about a foot of snow !! ,not the sprinkling we usually get down 'sarf. Its the ice thats the scary stuff underneath the light coating as you never know its there.
I may do the washing as well today and although it won't get dry it will be nice for it to have a bit of a 'blow' then I can finish it off on the airer.
Tonight's dinner will be a mystery one as I am getting to that bit in the freezer where I'm not sure what it was I wrapped up. I can't believe how long its taken me to run down my freezer it seems at least a couple of months .So tonight it could be either pork steaks or chicken breast it's so frozen I can't get the foil off yet .Oh well I do like a bit of excitement in my life even if its only guessing whats for dinner. <<hugs>> to those feeling down and sad.
No word from Bargainbird yet? I do hope all is well.
Right I'm off to have some coffee and peel some spuds
Cheers everyone keep wrapt up warmly

Huge grouphug to those who want or need one :grouphug: Especially Diva and Tristan, you've been in my heart.
Hockey Duo, :grouphug: Sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family :grouphug:
Ladymay, welcome :hello: And Kaat, welcome back!
CCStar, I read your news yesterday, I just wanted to say I feel bad for you, the same thing happened to us four years ago. I thought the world was going to end, but then we found where we live now and it turned out to have been the best thing that ever happened to us! You never know - sometimes these things happen for a reason. I hope things work out for the best x
Well, the BM is about to go on, then it's time for a bit of a stocktake ready for shopping at the weekend. Then I've got to do lots of icky Avon paperwork ready for my big recruitment drive next week. Anyone near Coventry, if you'd like to earn some money doing Avon, I'm giving £30 of Avon products to all new reps... sorry, just practising, I'll shut up
We're off to a friend's house tonight so tea will be something quick and simple before we go. I'm considering making some tear-and-share bread from the recipes in the panny user guide, I've not tried them before and they sound delicious!
Lots of stress about at the moment, Dave's work has announced 20 redundancies. Dave won't be affected but one of his friends might, it's created a lot of unease. One of the companies they supply has just laid off 450 people, so it doesn't look great. Dave has been told his job is safe as long as the company still exists, but the problem is that over the years he has found all his mates jobs there too, and some of them might not be so lucky. Now Dave feels bad for getting them the jobs in the first place. But the thing is, most of them were out of work when he got them in at his place, and the money is good there and of course, nobody saw this all coming back then. So I keep telling them he has nothing to feel guilty for, but he still feels bad
We both know things could be a lot worse, but it doesn't make him feel any better. I feel terrible for him, especially because my state isn't fantastic at the moment and I don't feel that I'm supporting him the way he always supports me. Huge :grouphug: to all the jobseekers.
OMG I just say a huge rat scuttle past the back door :eek:0 -
Aussie - not long now! Have a fabby doo time! Bet DGS is popping with excitement!
Ladymay - hello and welcome, what a lovely thing to say about this thread, everyone here really is lovely and supportive, it's a great place to share all the old style stuff that everyone I know rolls their eyes at, and great for a giggle or a hug if you need one.
Jackie - hope the joints aren't so creaky today! Your post made me giggle, I thought at first that your cousin had sent you something for your bottom to help you bounce lol!
Diva - lots of love and hugs to you, thinking of you and Tris xx
Silver - A RAT ARGH!!!!! Best stay indoors and keep warm, and safe from rodents! I'm sure Dave does feel supported by you, just being there and listening should never be underestimated, and you were amazing when he went into hospital and then again when he was allowed home xx
Just been out to check my car, with all this talk of snow I thought I'd best check that all my emergency supplies were still in there! Blankets, check, choc, check, water, check, tea light and matches, check, wind up radio and torch, check, emergency mobile, check! I often drive around what seems like the middle of nowhere, so like to make sure I'm prepared, especially as I often have the kids with me.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning all,
I'm in a bit of a state this morning - don't know if I've just done the right thing or not.
I love my job, I really do. At least, what I mean is that I love working as a Nanny. I've been Nannying for about 17 years and I've been with some wonderful families in that time. I'm not happy in my present position though and sometimes camel's backs are broken by the smallest of straws... I think that's what happened today. Basically, I ended up arguing with the children's mother. I'm not proud of that, it's very unprofessional, but I can't seem to do anything right for her and, when she doesn't support my decisions - and in front of the children too - it's difficult to see how the job can be successful. I don't think she was right to employ a Nanny; particularly one with so much experience. It seems to me that what she really wants is just a before and after school babysitter and that's not the same thing.
Anyway, I seem to have just emailed an application for another job.
Frightened to death now!!!Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé0 -

Hi Beth - good to hear from you from so far away! I was only thinking of you last night, as I was reading China Witness! Enjoy the plushness!
TheNannytodiefor - I hope everything works out for you. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try and how professional you are, these things happen. You must be very good at your job or you wouldn't have been doing it for 17 years. Good luck with finding the perfect position. Keep us informed and we are always here to listen.
Salopman - good luck with the test! This really is a great thread!
Well, here I am sat down again. I've finished all the chores, though, and I'm getting ready to go out in a minute, once I've extricated my car from behind DH's - he got a lift to work this morning and his car is blocking mine slightly - if you hear some frantic revving and cursing, it's me!

Ladymay - a warm welcome to you.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning everybody :heartsmil
Hockey Duo-what a shock for you,I'm so sorry.Take care.
Floss-thanks for the suggestion re labels- thats a good idea.I'd need to sort my printer out tho - I tried to do my addresses on labels at Christmas and it chewed them all up
Anyway, yesterdays batch is all gone and I thought there'd be enough to freeze a couple.I make it in my pressure cooker pan and it came half way up.I left it on for DS2 to help himself,DH and I wanted to eat later than him,and when I looked again there was barely enough left for us!Fortunately we werent too hungry as we'd had lunch late.He said it was yummy,he really seems to like butternut squash based soup, but there was also leek, carrot and celery in.Once its blended he cant tell. This is the lad whose favourite (only)veg is carrots and petit pois in a jar (I know...not OS at all)I'm hoping the going to the gym and healthy eating lasts long enough to make him feel healthier and his skin improves with the vits and minerals. His eczema has been awful the last few months and unfortunately its worst on his face.He goes next week to see his consultant- this is the emergency appt his doctor made for him at the beg of Nov
We went to T's yesterday.I've not been since my Xmas shop, been doing Aldi mainly. It cost a fortune.I'm still recovering from sending dh to the fish counter and him coming back with a piece of cod that was £8.85  .It'll be Bolton fish market for us in future.
Free in 3,good news on the IVF front,v exciting.
Halight, hope you get fixed up with some vol work today.
Lady May -welcome.
Hugs to all xxx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Well it's all hit the fan today. Mum called on my way into to work to say my aunt had died. She had been battling cancer for about a month and things were loooking up. They let her home at the weekend but sadly she passed away last night.
Unfortunatly it was found that she had been ill for quite sometime but had not realised it.
All the family were around her which is good but it just seems so unfair to be taken so quickly, like she didn't have a chance. She was a wonderful women who was very active and not very old either. We are a close family, she is my Papa's SIL, and I just feel robbed.
Sorry to start the post on a downer but I am in so much shock that all the troubles that have been nagging at me seem so insignificant now.
Hugs to all out there who are not well or are struggling on. Hope everyone has a good day and make sure you all give you family a big hug...even the
dog:D
xx
p.s Well done Free in Three xxx
