Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 29 Jan. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
Morning. Woke up early today for some reason. It's cool and damp at the moment.
Work today but that is followed by beer. 4pm hopefully we are all going to walk down to Wetherspoons for a beer and curry. Should be fun. The first night out since the Christmas do and that seems a long time ago.
OH has work today and so that is not a bad week for her. I can see she is spending the money though with a big pile of receipts here for me to process. I hope one of them is my B'day present receipt.
Went to ASDA last night and still can't understand the high prices. They might have roll backs, but just look at the normal price of basic things like pasta, sauces, rice, dog food, etc Every week they add a few pence more on the price. The offers are usually already sold out.... I hate going from one shop to another, but it's the only way of getting a good deal...
Not much else to report. Have a nice day...

Good morning N9eav, good morning everyone

I too work up a little too early, so I decided on online meander was called for
I know just what you mean about the prices in the supermarkets N9eav. The basics seem to be going up and up each week. The offers are not usually on these either. I commented to the OH yesterday that last year I was able to put a little of the food budget away for the odd meal out, but I increasingly seem to be hitting the full target each month. I don't seem to have such full storecupboard shelves either.
Work as usual today. I have tomorrow off though, so I'll be trawling a couple of local shops. I'll also be doing a bit of baking and soup making.
Have a lovely OS day everyone
Enjoying an MSE OS life

Good morning N9eav - I'm so glad your OH is having a good week, workwise. I agree with you about the prices - wherever you go, they seem to be going up, yet all the supermarkets are bragging about how good their prices are.
It's cold and damp here, too, but the sun has been promised this afternoon. Yesterday was a really horrible day - cold, damp and a thick fog which just seemed to hang in the air.
I have finally run down my supply of mince so I must go out and replace it. I shall see what deals the local butcher has. Dinner tonight will be spaghetti bolognaise; pudding will be the rest of the bread-and-butter pudding I made yesterday.
MSD - any news of Tristan? I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Bargainbird - are you back with us now?
Thanks to everyone for their congratulations yesterday, and lots of congratulations for all the other forthcoming babies. It's going to a good year for babies on here!
Well, I must go and put the BM on. Once DH has left for work, I shall change the sheets and clean the bedrooms. I have decided I'm not going to use the TD at all from now, unless I'm really desperate. I have a fold-up airer and some radiator airers, and they'll all be put to good use. I'm lucky - it's only DH and me here now; I remember how difficult it was getting the washing dry when the boys were still living at home. At least now, I have two spare bedrooms that I can use.
Well, I'd better go and put the BM on and make DH's sandwiches for work. Mmm - the lovely smell of Branston at this time of the morning!
Hope you all have a good day. Lots of (((hugs)) for all those in need.

Morning Everyone!
Woke early here but decided to lie in bed listening to half an hour of news on the radio. It was nice. WM on the 2nd of its 3 loads today. Kitchen swiped, bathroom to do. Spag bol here for dinner tonight - I'll def be adding lentils & extra veg as my little pack of mince is now feeding 6 of us as ds1 has a friend coming!
Going to the library today and cleaning the bedrooms so it'll be a nice not too rushed day. Gentle hugs to all that need them & prayers too.

Morning all,
They have just said on the weather that we are due another very cold snap next week, so don't put your thermals away just yet.
It feels cold here today, off to work, so will have a quick tidy through, and get a wash ready to out on when I get home, Kathy i have never had a tumble dryer, my washing is usually hung outside if possible, or on the airer if not, I find doing a little and often helps.
Something with chips for tea tonight, there are lots of bits and pieces that need using in the freezer. I also have a sainsbugs delivery coming tonight.
The exhaust on my car is making a terrible noise, I sound like a boy racer with a souped up engine
, so I will have to try and get that sorted out, hopefully it will last till tomorrow when I finish work early, and hopefully it wont be too expensive  .
Hugs to those in need, have good days all xx
Diva, still thinking of you and Tristian xx0 -
Morning all
Payday here for me too & I need to find out which bank my money has gone into, if it's gone into the correct one I can close the other one down, I don't hold out much hope though, the company that does our wages is carp.
I've dropped hubby at the station, not sure if he'll get paid but fingers crossed.
Only 2 more days till the weekend, I think we are going to visit friends on Friday.
I'm expecting to be busy & do another 9 hour day, still, look on the bright side, at least I have a job for now.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - egg Sarnies
Tea - sausageinabun
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Well, I got my new car yesterday!:T Only been waiting since October. It's all singing, all dancing! So many knobs and buttons everywhere. I was so cautious coming home, didn't want to scratch it! :rotfl: DS has decided that it's not too pink after all, so he'll ride in it!
Visitors today, and I must get my photo done. My Blue Badge runs out on the 28th Feb, so I need to renew it.
