Morning everyone its pouring down and really windy here this morning. Thats what you get after yesterday was so beautiful sunshine too! Never mind I did a small shop yesterday bread milk etc basics, no value mince anywhere, so dont know whats for tea might make quiche and baked potato, basics are certainly not coming down in price here either!! DH now has manflu so think he'll be home today, all the children are well though so I have an early school run at 8 then the others at half past. OS wise must make some hob nobs today only about 3 left and probably make some cake too. BM on and WM so hopefully catch up on some jobs today. Love and hugs to all who need them. Any news from bargain bird yet? Hope all went well.

    Morning all:hello:

Fun-packed day today of grocery shopping at the farmshop and Waitrose. I've whittled my shopping list right down to the bare necessaries (been reading cookbooks again and extras had crept onto my list).

My meat box is arriving today -must remember to leave back gate unlocked so they can leave it behind there if I'm out.

Must also try and get an appointment with a doctor to get my conjunctivitis sorted out as it doesn't seem to be getting better. OH thinks he's got it now. I hope the kids don't get it:rolleyes: edit: been researching and all sources tell me it will clear up by itself, so I'm not going to bother the doc with it.

Breakfast was porridge with golden syrup and raisins

Lunchboxes are pasta salad (pasta, chickpeas, ham, peas and sweetcorn), choconana/apple muffins and apples

Supper will be smoked mackerel kedgeree

I've just got a batch of yogurt on the go as the one I made yesterday completely failed to set -think the starter was too old.

Morning friends. Brrrrrrrr it is SO frosty this morning.

((((hugs)))) to all those in need. I hope Feb will be better for us all

Diva, you are in my thoughts and prayers sweetie
Halight you really are an inspiration hun. Hot toddies are what Nurse Mudgekin orders for the cold

Payday at last :j :j :j I have been so careful this month that I actually have money left over. It is probably down to stopping smoking as well.

Stovies last night were yummy. Pork tonight and will do roasties in goose fat to go with them as a treat for DH, he just loves them. On the way home last night I dropped into the butcher and ordered an ox tongue for the weekend. I know lots will find the idea gross:rotfl: DH and I do love it though and it will probably feed us for at least 4 nights :T It means I need to think of something for OM but I will probably make her some potted hough.

I might pop into Mr T's tomorrow after work just tyo pick up another 2 of the £5 trousers and blouses if they have any left. They are ideal for work. I sp[e4nt so long in uniform that I am having to try get a decent smart wardrobe now and I grudge wearing my expensive stuff to work (the expensive stuff was all bought before I was the MSE light :o )

Anyhow, I promised I wouldn't moan today. Have a great day all

  • Morning friends,

Can't sleep so came to check my emails but nothing from America. Can't decide if that is good or not. My head tells me it isn't but I have no proof of that so will keep focussing hard...

Very cold night here though no snow - it rarely snows this close to the coast.

Been nearly a week since we heard from Bargainbird - I hope everything is OK.

I must thank you all for your thoughts and wishes for Tris, I know they must help him, they certainly make me feel much better to know he is getting that support from you all.

Finally had stuffed peppers last night. Madeup a big bowl of spicy rice and stuffed them with that and we had an odd chicken breast which we cooked and then diced into the rice. It was lovely. Tonight we have a lovely stew in the slow cooker, first time we have used it in ages. The lid broke but my OH found an oval plate in a second hand shop that sits perfectly on the top so we are back in business again!

Warm gentle hugs to everyone who might want one today

    Diva.x
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Diva you and tristan are in my thoughts x

thriftlady that meat box looks fab and a good price too!
    (((hugs))) to all that need

OH has manflu  I have left him in bed feeling very sorry for himself. I on the otherhand am at work and glad to be out of his way. I might pick him a paper up on my way home but my sympathy is dwindling just a touch. I know his head cold will affect his ability to move his arms and legs and so there wont be any OS'ing by him

off to home bargains at lunchtime to see what is to be had

hope everyone has a great day
  • Morning all, hope you are all well

I have been MIA for a while as I have been away with work and had a rather eventful January. Our IVA has been accepted and I feel better off than I have in years:j , helped by OH wage cut not been as bad as we expected, and we have been told that the LHA will pay for three goes at IVF for us starting in May. :T :T :T If they did not offer three free goes we never could have afforded to pay for more than one.

I hope the snow isn't bad. I am supposed to be going to the lakes walking this weekend!

I am also fed up with the price increases. I get our dog food from Aldi. Last week it had gone up from 32p a tin to 39p a tin. Are they having a laugh? I will not be going there for it now as the special journey I make there is not worth the time and effort for the small saving. I quite like their F&V but don't buy anything else there as I don't find it any cheaper.

Went to Mr S on Monday and they had lots of special offers on. Ped chum packs of 6 tins down to £4.25, cheaper than there own brand and I got £1.50 off a hair dye.:D

Breakfast - porridge with raspberries and honey
Lunch - no idea but need to eat up some fruit
Dinner - HM spag bol with broccoli and gravy then yog and fruit

    OS today
    Make some bread in BM
Unpack suitcase from work trip(or it will sit on the landing til next week!:o )
Prepare and freeze some leeks and peppers that are about to turn in fridge (might make saus casserole in slow cooker for w.e.)
Try and find something to use up 4 pints of skimmed milk that run out on 1st (there is no room in the freezer)
Meal plan to use up lots of meat and veg in freezer so can fit in some veggie stuff for me and more HM meals
Plan a small shop for Mr S on Sat(have decided to buy just what I need this week rather than a bulk shop for month)

Hope you all have a great day.

Hi all - just sat down with a coffee.

Thriftlady - thanks for the link to the meat box company. I see they do a mutton box - it's so hard to find mutton these days and I really like it, so I shall be ordering one of those soon.

Happy Birthday to Master Taplord! Taplady, my hands are the same. The only relief I get is if I can put them in hot water for a few minutes, not always possible when you're out, though!

I've just checked with Metcheck and we have snow forecast for here (right darn sarf) for Sunday and Monday with temps of 'feels like -8C!'; here's me thinking Spring might have been on the way!

Halight - good luck with helping the disabled.

MSD - no news is good news, as they say. Fingers crossed and prayers being said here.

RedRuby - I know TDs are an extravagance but, when DS2 was born, we were living in Norfolk (moved from there when he was five). It never stopped raining and the sun didn't come out often! I always used 'real' nappies and had the devil of a job getting them, and DH's work clothes, dry. I tend to use it nowadays just for drying towels and underwear, but have now worked out a system using airers upstairs. I shan't part with it but it is now almost redundant! I hope your exhaust lasts until you can get it fixed!

Well, coffee's been drunk so I'd better use up the caffeine-effect and get the clean sheets on the bed.

    See you all later.
