Afternoon all.
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today, especially HockeyDuo; so sorry to hear your sad news.
I'm trying to battle with the loo limescale today - got a cloth soaked in vinegar in there at the moment - we shall see how long I can leave it before I have to use the darned thing. (The loo, not the cloth).:D
Also, not sure what to do for dins tonight. So many of our recipes involve cheese, and we're nearly out. Don't want to get supermarket cheese, as we're going to the Farmer's Market on Sunday, where we'll get our usual month's supply. In any case, even if I did, it'd mean texting Mr LW and getting him to call in Mr M's after w*rk. I think it's going to have to be something based on baked beans, but I'm not certain what. Answers on a postcard, please.....:rotfl:
Some folks here have mentioned an impending cold snap.... ooh, I am so glad we've got the central heating fixed!
Keep warm and well, folks, - on with the wooly pullies again!:pIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Thank you everyone for all the kind thoughts and messages. holding up ok but I think i will be a wreck when I go to the folks this weekend.
Even though you know something is inevitable it never makes it easier when it actually happens.
No OS today so far, washing will get done while I'm at hockey training later (6.30pm-9.30pm:rolleyes: )
It's very overcast here with the cold and snow forecast like the rest of the UK. OH's folks are back from Egypt today (OH's dad works for Shell out there), for a couple of weeks. Really looking forward to seeing them next week as have not seen them since August.
Sybil: Hugs to little bear, I remember water table and carfting was the best bit about playschool. Plenty room to make a mess! Bet you are dead proud of his first playschool pic!
Off to make a cuppa now, chat later xxSpreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0 -
HockeyDuo - come on here and get as many hugs as you need, when you need them. Wishing you loads of hugs. Also, yes, I will be spraying the thing with hairspray
I am not sure how it will keep as it includes a strand of spaghetti that they had dyed with food colouring. It is entombed in poster paint so that may keep the bugs out.
Little bear is having a nap :j:j:j:j
And I am off to do ironing]Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

I am another who is getting a bit worried about Bargainbird. She had posted that she would like a mug cosy so I offered to make her one. Held off sending it as we waited for news but have posted it today with a little card saying "hope everything went well, that everyone is missing her and looking forward to seeing her back on the board".
Trust that was ok?0 -
Well, I bet you wish you hadn't asked now!
Not at all! You've confirmed quite a lot of things that are important to me! Ideally I'd like to give up the supermarkets altogether. I buy all of our meat and dairy from a local rare-breeds butcher now and what veg we don't grow ourselves comes from another farm shop where the majority of produce is grown locally (and often on their own 20-acre farm). It's odd stuff like flour and loo roll and catfood that I struggle with!
I know exactly what you mean about the vast array of pretty much everything you can buy, and it is pretty sickening. But what I find odd is the choices that we don't have. Except for milk, we don't have the option of buying local produce and it can be difficult to get some British crops even at the height of their season. We don't have the choice to say how we'd like our foods to be grown or made, because it's all so wrapped up in marketing speak (as the Hugh F-W and Jay Rayner documentaries in the last few weeks have shown). As other businesses struggle and go bust when supermarkets come in, we are slowly losing the choice even to go elsewhere. I think that, where it counts, the choice we have is essentially superficial. On top of that I hate how the environment is being raped to satisfy the supermarkets, I hate how suppliers are being run out of business, I hate the constant needs for bigger stores, I hate the cynical marketing hype they use to convince us that they are are none of the things we know they are... woah, end rant!
It sounds like the co-op are making big strides in the areas I care most about, which I suppose you'd expect as they aren't in thrall to the shareholders. I suppose these days your money is a vote of confidence, every time I spend any money in Mr T I feel guilty these days. It's funny, my mum was a member of the co-op for years and years, all the time I was growing up, and it never occurred to me until recently to do the same! We used to love 'divvy day', cos whenever we wanted anything we'd get told wait 'til divvy day!
Thanks for that, I'll let you know how I get on

Afternoon All
It has just taken me ages to catch up with everything that has been going on. Definately sounds like some of you coud use some ((((((hugs)))))) today.
Well not really been very OS today. Have hoovered and done half of the ironing...........I HATE ironing. It bores me so so much! Now I know why I had a lady that I paid to do it! (Definately not very OS!)
Dinner tonight will be.............I have no idea! Thinking I might need to start doing meal plans. Just not really too sure where to start to be honest! Will have to be something relatively quick and easy as my neighbour has asked me to go to bingo with her! HaHa! It makes me laugh so much, have been once before and found it hilarious! Probably just what I need at the minute.
Am feeling slightly more positive today, well still feeling a bit 'down' but trying very hard to snap myself out of it. I am thinking I might need to find myself a hobby. Proving to be quite difficult though with my RA. Did make DH a sock monkey before christ,as so might make another one, did take quite a while mind you considering my hands dont really seem to work all that well some days! All suggestions for hobbies greatly welcomed!
Anyway enough rambling from me! Hope you all have a nice day
Linz xoxoxIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me to the board!!! I really only got into this MSE business as I am on maternity leave and every penny counts!!
Well, I have now cleaned out the chickens, walked the dogs and done the ducks...motivation to make bread and homemade polish has gone....I'll put it on the list for tomorrow...
Time to go and brush the dust off the Slow cooker....been up the garden and found some leeks, cabbages and brussels..think I'll make a ''windy'' casserole with some chicken!!!!!'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0 -

Sounds ideal to me, Happyroly! I do hope all's well. Maybe she is just acclimatising to it all, it's a pretty big change in anyone's life after all! This way she knows that people are thinking of her but can make her way over when she is ready.0 -
