Great, it worked. I've just cancelled my ancestry membership, as it was due for renewal on tuesday and logged on using the link with my same username. All went through fine. Saved me loads, thanks to the OP.0

Hi there,I have continued my ancestry membership for more than 2 years & found it invaluable for family history which I agree is addictive!
My subscription renewal was due in TWO days time, so I called them & politely asked if there was anything they could do to give me a discount. YES :j- I have now saved just over £14.50 on the price -this was a reduction of more than 10% off their annual rate + they gave me £6.49 refund (to be received in about a week) for renewing EARLY!! - (Tee Hee) even though its only 2 days! :rotfl:PLUS-get this - I also have 13 months subscription for the lower price (I am now 'safe' till end of March 2010).0 -
I have my main tree on Ancestry.co.uk as I prefer this to work in.
I have been dowloading a GEDCOM to my desktop and then importing into Genes Reunited without many problems other than a bit of a delay sometimes in my tree being accessible.
I have now bought Family Tree Maker 2006 and want to have this on my PC. I hoped to be able to carry on working on Ancestry.co.uk and downloading a GEDCOM every so often, as before, to import into GR and also into FTM to update that.
Is this possible? I can only see EXPORT functions for GEDCOMs on FTM. Is there a simple way round this for the computer illiterate? Is it possible to update FTM on a weekly basis from Ancestry.co.uk?
At the moment I am trying to remeber to update each every time I add information and it is a recipe for disaster!Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
I save my Ancestry Tree to a file called Family Tree on my C drive - then use FTM maker to open it. (I date each new file I download, so I know which is the most current). I tend to do most of my research on Ancestry and use FTM as a 'back up'.
Ancestry.com.au currently showing renewal prices as :
UK Heritage: one annual payment of AUD$179.40. = £86.74 (UK £83.40)
UK Heritage Plus ;one annual payment of AUD$215.40 = £104.15 (UK £107.40)
World Heritage ; one annual payment of AUD$299.88 = £144.99 (UK £155.40)
I think it's probably safe to say this offer is well and truely 'gone but was it any good'Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Thanks for that Raksha.
Can I ask you a further question please?
I have so much information on my Ancestry.co.uk tree - attached photos, stories and census results. Is there a way of putting these onto your FTM and them not dissapearing when you open your new GEDCOM from Ancestry.co.uk.
I hate the fact that I have put many, many hours of work into my Ancestry.co.uk tree but that if I can't afford to renew my subs at any time, I ahve lost all the additional stuff.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0
