Defaults from well over seven years ago when I was a student but no financial issues now, no searches in the last three years cept for this CC and an excellent income. My main issue is that I have a limited credit file due to not having much credit (I should add I also have an allowance of about a grand on a catalogue which I never use) and want to make myself look a better bet for a mortgage. So currently I only have two companies willing to lend me money and I'd like to carefully and cautiously make my credit files look better.0

Halifax are offering the CC facility to me again so I've applied. Will get declined again anyway0

No, Tesco too far unfortunately so mostly Sainsbury's. I never thought to consider supermarket CCs - might go and check out S's one now. Thanks for that suggestion.
Is it likely that I will basically approved for any mainstream CC now that I've had a couple of things on my credit file for a year? I don't want to make a leap to a mainstream one if there's a high probability I'll be turned down just because I don't have much existing credit. I'd like to look a very good bet for a mortgage and I don't want anything minor harming that. (Especially as it's something I don't actually need and am just doing to get myself a good credit file!).0 -
You have had green ticks on your report for a while now, no derogatory information and hardly any searches so I would say things bode well for a mainstream acceptance.0

Graahhh! I am irrationally nervous about making this step.
I know it's more productive to do it now but I honestly would prefer to go and hide my head under a stone for a bit.0 -
