Just listed my other credit obligations, how I was dealing with them successfully and listed my income. I was asked for 3 months bank statements and was then approved.

I chose a Visa card but it doesn't matter as you can choose either or and it doesn't affect the credit scoring

I've saved the page on my favourites, don't really want to do too many just yet . At least i know it's worth a try in future.

I've had a Capital One Visa for coming up a year now. It's been used frequently (groceries) and paid off in full every month. Over this time they've raised my credit limit to £1100.

Is it a good idea to apply for another CC? I don't need one and live well within my means and have no other real debt (just student loan) but I'd like my credit file to look lovely and shiny for when I eventually apply for a mortgage. If I do apply for another card who would be good to go with? I should add that I'm not that fussed what the interest rates would be as I'd never garner interest charges, but I feel that the Capital One card is associated with people with no/poor credit so I'm thinking I'd like to go with another one. Any suggestions?

Have you any defaults/CCJs? Do you have many searches? What's your annual income?

Defaults from well over seven years ago when I was a student but no financial issues now, no searches in the last three years cept for this CC and an excellent income. My main issue is that I have a limited credit file due to not having much credit (I should add I also have an allowance of about a grand on a catalogue which I never use) and want to make myself look a better bet for a mortgage. So currently I only have two companies willing to lend me money and I'd like to carefully and cautiously make my credit files look better. :)
