I thought you had to have a bank account with hsbc before you can apply for a credit card anyway? So that suggests you do have a bank account (have I misread this post?)....

Usually HSBC won't give you a CC until after you had account 6mth, as mentioned earlier i'm 4 into mine and have a couple to wait - I have a letter from ledning dept confirming that I will be eligible in June (18th) to apply and so long as my accounts are maintained in the same manner they see no reason why the decision will not be looked at in a more favourable manner because they will primarily base the application on my account behaviour.

That to me means a yes!

Right that explains things then - you wont get one until July..... you gotta wait 6mth for any lending to be applied. It tells you in the letter you got when they opened the bank account for you..... if they could give it you before they would offer at the time they offered bank account...

sorry I was getting confused. The branches can help with bank accounts, not credit cards as they just ring through to the CC centre in soufend! (london accent lol)

Sorry, I think our lines got crossed somewhere. :rotfl:
I should really have read that letter that came with the bank account details. I'll wait until June then, until I apply again. :)

Yup I did mention earlier that you have to go into a branch cos the phone staff can't help but did you listen? NOPE!!!

Now they'll have updated your account and guess what? You can't do owt for 3mth.

Jees, why do some people think they know best? i'f you'd followed my advice - you'd have a HSBC account already

    Hi Mate,

Went into HSBC to confirm the situation regarding disputes / overturns. If your behaviour score is over 40 depending on what decline code they get they can overturn. I spoke to them regarding my CC application in Novemeber and they advised me that it was a code that could be overturned!!!!!! Because I am out of the three months I have to reapply. The suggested that with my behaviour score (61) that I give it 2 - 3 months to try and get that up even more and then reapply. She said that if she gets the same decline as last time she WILL overturn it providing I show her all my Experian info and take in my credit report. She did say that she used to be able to overturn EVERYTHING however recently this has changed. She did seem really helpful and told me with 26 years HSBC experince she knows her stuff...... HTH

Yea I would, in essense just apply dead on 6mth after you opened account - if you apply in June (likely to get declined) they may make you wait 6mth from June so if I were you i'd wait til July, the day after your 6mth anniversary (so if you opened 18th Jan, apply on 19th July) but this time go into the branch and just say 'wondering if I can apply for a CC' and then they'll be able to tell you before applying as they will see your behaviour score which will be a good indicator.

do you follow me? Makes sense for a month extra to wait, thats what i'd do.... I opned account 18th Dec so i'll apply 19th June.
