I think I've read somewhere in equifax that outstading debt searches last for 6 years

bloody hope not i've got 2 from Thames Credit the back end of last year, from debts from before i was declared bankrupt. they have been endeavoring to contact me (since 2004) but I have failed to respond, what a load of bull. Ive rang and rang to tell them i was BR, sent my copy or the BR, faxed it, sent letters, and then they went and searched my file leaving there grubby footprints along the way!

What's an outstanding debt search and who does them? Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I am still learning....

I have no idea what they were and was a bit surprised they popped up on my file. They searched me twice in one day and then again a few months later.

from what I gather, these Debt companies buy up old debts then search public databases to find you, they then outstanding debt search the person they find even if they are not the person with the outstanding debt, they may just have the same name! Thames Credit (also Aktiv Kapital or Aktiv Capital) are a bunch of bar stewards!
