Have you filled out an on-line dispute? If they say no after 28 days report them to the ICO.

If you can proof it's a duplicate you could even go to the County Court to have it removed.

It really annoys me that the CRA believe the companies over the consumers.

Thats what Cabot have done to me on Equifax, default at one address then duplicated at new address. Totally wrong, Equifax are total t*ts, Experian seem far better.
How do you do this online dispue thing, I use check my file, they were a total waste of space when I mailed them. :mad:

Cabot seem very handy at doing this. :mad:

What you do is go to on-line disputes on the Equifax website, register for it, it does cost anything, use the drop down meuns and fill in the data you want them to look at.

You will also need your credit file reference number to fill it out.

Go to Equifax email them the complaint then they will open a ref, file then start to dispute them , l did it last month for duplicate file , one mark settle and other one mark default. they corrected it within a week . Hope this help.

On the subject of Cabot, should be CRAPBOT, I received a letter about a Citi account, not mine demanding payment, not acknowledged it but expecting more. :mad:

I HATE EQUIFAX :mad:
Only months ago the 'default' was duplicated because Cabot changed the amount by £16 now its on at my new address too. HAVE HAD NO DEFAULTS FOR YEARS, surely they should be registered at the address at which they occured

Send them a letter asking them to prove it your debt.

Go to the debt-free board they are very helpful. fermi, rog2, georgeUK, RAS, and 10past6. They are helpful people.

Had one off Lowells too a while back for Vodaphone, again not mine, got a few letters including Hamptons Legal (their scary division) I'm sure they write to loads of people same name, hoping that someone will pay up
