Update on the Sygma CIFAS issue that I have !
Received a response back from Equifax, it seems that certain CIFAS info does not show up on your files -• A Lender will not necessarily make you aware that they are placing a CIFAS warning at your address. Great care is taken to strike the right balance between the need for confidentiality and the need to be open about fraud prevention. In the past, letters to consumers advising that a CIFAS warning has been placed on their address has alerted the perpetrators of the crime to the fact that the police have become involved in a case. To maximise the likelihood of successful apprehension and prosecution of offenders, consumers are not advised of CIFAS warnings in the majority of cases. However, in the event of an impersonation, the member will always advise the innocent party, if they have a current address for the innocent party and are sure that the fraudster will not be alerted.
Sygma wrote back yesterday, asking for copies of passport, birth certificate, etc. to confirm my partners, and my identity, and then they will 'progress the matter further'
Bloody unbelievable!, as both our applications were honest, truthful, and by us.
So if you've been CIFAS'd by Sygma, get in touch with them, and get it sorted, you may not even be aware you have !0 -
evening,
Hope you don't mind me butting in on your thread! I have not posted before but have followed this thread for a while and got some very good tips so thank you!
I got myself in a mess financially while I was at uni - I now have a good job and earn a v good salary but have struggled to sort my credit history out, I've recently successfully applied for Vanquis, Cap1 and Aqua cards along with Next and Littlewoods. applied for barclaycard and got a no! This week applied for BOI card so will see what they say....
I don't need the credit cards for the money, just want a solid credit history. I bought a flat with my OH a year and half ago when credit history was pro at its worst but we put down a big deposit so that probably helped! I am getting married later this year and want to put all of my debts behind me when I start my new life as a Mrs!0 -

Hi Chocolate Button
A very warm welcome
To be honest I think you've probably got enough credit accounts to build up a good credit record, I wouldn't bother applying for any more. Give it a year or so and you'll be back in with a good chance of mainstream cards.
It's great that your committed to sorting out your debt and credit record.
This is a great supportive thread, if you've got any questions or need any help ask any of the regulars.
Regards

Thought I would give a quick update.
At last I have received my first bank statement in I don't know how many years so I am feeling like I have proof on my first step to growing up in my attitude to finances - really pleased. I have therefore sent of the relevant docs to Cap 1, so I guess I am now at the twitching at the sound of the letterbox stage.
Next step is to take a deep breath and get my CRA stuff.
Given up on the phone thing for now - hoping someone kind, ie OH might help with a PAYG for my birthday.
Will keep you posted.
MOB

Did you ever get the business with your address sorted out with the PO?
Let us know what you find when you manage to get your credit files through.
