looks like next are at it again with thier fluctuating credit limits and changes. hubbys account (which i order from as they wont let me have one!) has had a credit limit decrease this month was 300 but they reduced it to 250. this morning when i logged in to check returns had been credited they had but remaining credit was zero!! balance is 124, so there should be still be 125 remaining but no, so he has emailed to find whats going on. next are so funny!!
They have changed mine too. I think it has fallen from £3600 to the £1500 mark

Empire Stores have just incresed my limit by another £100, this is the second time now in 2 months. I have not bought anything since October, I am just paying back the money each month 0% for a sofa I bought.

I already called them about 4 months ago to reduce it by £1000 as I thought it would look better on my credit report ( I don't want a £2000 limit on a catalogue)

I never bothered with Next, so don't know about that. Simple be are the same though, always increasing my limit each month.

Because i can't get a credit card at the moment, I feel that a catalogue to me are handy.

I understand your point of view because you have a far superior credit history.

That is so weird as when i phoned up got told the opposite, after 6 months goes to a standard visa and the deposit goes against the balance, seems strange that they are telling people different things.

    Hello,

I am hearing things about secured deposit credit cards. Does anyone know if any companies still offer them as I am looking at strengthening my credit file over the next year or so till things start to drop off my file.

    Many thanks good people

lol you are joking! I don't have a massive income, I just hoped that by reducing the catalogue credit, I would at some point be accepted for limit increases on my (for example) £800 Barclaycard because it has the lowest rate of 14.9%.

According to one of the men I spoke to yesterday at MBNA, they are still offering their £100 secured deposit card.
