Thanks. I sent my passport and bank statement to Vanquis yesterday. It's showing as received, so hopefully I'll have a Vanquis card by next week some time.
When I phoned Aqua, I set up a Direct Debit to pay the full amount each month. I'm now contemplating whether this was a good idea and whether I should have just taken in the giro slip and paid in my bank each month or pay via Debit Card, as if one month, I'm a little short, I can't just pay say 70% off the card and leave the extra 30% till next month.
I don't see myself doing this, but I can never be sure.
When the DD gets setup at your bank, cancel it straight away.0 -
Wouldn't that make the Direct Debit bounce when Aqua try and take the Direct Debit?
Sorry, I'm useless when it comes to Direct Debits and the lark. :rotfl:
No just pay it over the phone a few days before it's due. As long as they receive a payment they aren't bothered.
If you want to pay by DD, just set the minimum and pay more off by debit card.0 -

Ok, thanks.
At near 36% interest, I'm going to aim never to carry any balances over.
When I get the Vanquis card, I'm going to put that away, as I can't see myself using it. Apparently even if you don't use it, they still report green 0's to CRA.0 -

I would set up a DD for the minimum amount as that way you are never late and you can top up as and when
I will do. I might ring them now and get the DD changed to the minimum instead of Maximum.
If my statement is sent on the 14th and my payment is due on the 28th, would I just let the minimum payment go towards the card and then ring them a few days later and pay the remaining balance? Would I not get charged interest for those 2 days that have gone past the bill date?
You'll are going to be sick of me after today. :rotfl:0 -
You would get charged interest if you did that. The total balance must be paid by the "pay by" date0

Ok. Thanks0
