Just called BT Broadband 0800800030 and got option 1 for £9.33 per month inc VAT for 12 months with 2 months left on my old contract. I had been paying £17.99 per month up until now and happy enough with the service.
  • Hi

My contract ended a year ago and today I phoned asking if the £17.60 a month was best deal

Immediately offered £12.72 pm with latest free hub. Said I didn't want that and that price was still much higher than competitors.

Then offered £9.29 pm which I have accepted and have 5 days to cancel if I wish. Wonder if you could get that price?

Should I stick with bt at this price?

I also phoned asking for my MAC code on the pretext I'm moving to Sky :D . While waiting for the MAC code, persuaded :rotfl: to change from my £15.65 Option 1 to a new 12 month contract at £9.29 per month and a free hub will be sent. Apparently I will be still be direct debited £15.65 and BT credits £6.36 every month. Thanks for the above posts which suggested such a move:T :T :T

  • I do like this site!

    Agree with you there Cheery...

was offered same deal yesterday after calling up requesting MAC. I have been going way over my download limit on option 1 (watching online movies & TV etc  ). So will be paying approx £23 pm inc line rental with no d/load limit but tied to 12 month contract. seems ok as it's usually a good service just erratic customer/tech support.

A word of warning: I think BT are putting up the penalty for going above your download limit to £1 per GB from April.
  • No need!

BT called me back today and offered me Option 3 with homehub and phone for £15.16 per month. Also had my line rental reduced.

    I do like this site!

I got that today as well, but just the homehub and nothing off line rental. Do you know if that counts VAT?
  • i was with bt for 22 years. and for broadband 3 years. one of their useless and cheap overseas centres phoned me for an offer to renew my hefty £24 option 2, subject to taking BT vision as well, for £17.5 plus £13.5, plus new hub. i stupidly accepted. i was told i can cancel before the effective date in the email. I never recived the email, i phoned 0800800900, useless staff, then 08000856161, useless again, 0800800150 i was told no order on my line, so just forget it happened. they offered £15.65 for 12 months, and new hub. I later found out that my BT line can not support BT vision anyway!!!. i rejected that and asked to cancel my BT broadband due to the rude staff and the lies they told me. 4 days later, i received an email confirming my contract renewal for £20.50, reduced to £17.5 with an AUTOMATED RENEWAL at the end of every contarct with only five 5 window for cancellation from date of email. So you have to check your email daily or find yourself commited into another 12 month contract with a very poor deal. besides, ADSL2 is now offered by many ISPs, but not BT. This is ONE catch. The second is that the Hub will never arrive, and you are alraedy bound by the contract now. these cheap tactics were the main reason for me staying with the expensive BT with measly 1.3 broadband speed as they were trusty. nomore particularly their overseas help centre staff who will give pack of lies.
there are a lot more better options, and more reliable and faster broadband offers which are also much cheaper, and easier to cancel. just try to cancel with BT? now adays.

if you still like to renew with BT at least get the offer in writing or email before you accept. not trusty

Do some price comparisons first. You may save £3-4 pm BUT do you want the hassle of switching for little savings??

I left BT when there were no free calls and was paying £28 + calls.

I am with Tiscali now and pay £20 pm inc. calls.

offered today - option three or whatever its called. free six months then 22.50 a month so average of £15 for 18 month contract. Also offered to change to dd of actual monthly bill rather than the set 50 quid a month that they previously wanted. Well impressed with the call and offered me enough to remain with bt - oh and new hub and hub phone (number three!)
Got few days to change so let me know if you think i should hold out for more.
    thanks

I have accepted option 3 on 12 month contract for £15.16 a month but have a 7 day cooling off period.

I notice that O2 are offering up to 8mb broadband for £7.34 a month if you are a customer.

Has anyone any experience of BT matching this?

check sam knows. If your in an LLU area then you can get £7.33 if not then £12.99

Is this offer still valid?........I have recently had my orange broadband put up by £7, I've checked on asksam and found talk talk are also on my exchange.......bt today said the best they could do was £12.99 plus 11.75 line rental..............I asked about the £7.33 and they said they know nothing of it, they are ringing back tomorrow.

Just spoke to orange who said if I took up Bt's offer tomorrow I would be liable for a £25 charge for cancelling the contract if I dont wait for the MAC code to come through which will take 3-5 days.........is this true?
