BT Broadband offer

  • Please can I just ask, did you get option 3 for the full 12 months at £15.16? I am looking to change to BT and have looked at their website - normally it's £24.46 for 18 months! Will ring them tomorrow to try and haggle, but just wanted to check details first. Thanks:rolleyes:

I have just come off a 12 month contract with BT for Option 3 which, by the time they had credited my account with a couple of £30+ payments, worked out at £19.99 a month + line rental. So I rang them and asked what was the best deal for me currently as I was "reviewing my options for Broadband" and I assumed I was about to be reverted to their £24.46 rate. I was then offered £15.16 a month for 12 months flat rate (non of this you pay us the £24.46 and we will periodically place a credit on your account like the previous offer).

Obviously I was coming at them as a current customer so I probably went through to a "customer retention" type department who may have better deals to offer than new customers - worth asking them though. Good luck
  • I think BT is best but if still want cheap broadband deal you may find it here http://www.shopcorn.co.uk/broadband/index.aspx

but the i only recieved the vision box and installed it yesterday, the test i did that gave me 6.5 megs was nearly 2 weeks ago, it has only being since i ordered vision that it has dropped to 1.9 megs, so how can the vision be responsible for the drop in speed, or do bt put something on your line as soon as you order vision,, Dave

BT vision splits the internet connecrion "so much for vision and so much for internet. BT Vision takes priority thats why your speed has dropped to the lower speed.

well in that case i am more than happy with it then, bt vision works fine, and the internet speed is more than fat enough for what i use the internet for, dave

Currently on option 1, out of contract, and paying £15.99 per month.
Would like to have option 3, with hub and phone and pay £15.99.

When asked what my rationale for demanding option 3 at £15.99, I said that ‘my friend’ received this deal and that I would like the same. Was told that that deal was only available to people who were already on option 3, and not available to me as I was only on option 1. We negotiated and fair play to the call handler, he kept talking. I countered with “you’re making a profit from him, so why can’t you offer the same deal to me” and got the response “our system will not allow it”.
Tried to negotiate a little more and got the offer of an extra pound a month off.
Pushed the call handler into a possible cancellation and was informed that I would be charged £18.11 for the broadband to be disconnected from my line (if I wasn’t moving to another supplier). I can’t remember that charge being mentioned when I signed up! Deadlocked with the call handler and was eventually given my MAC code. Total call time was 12 minutes.

Thinking about what to do next.

(Was also ofered Option 1 for £9.22, and option 2 for £15.99)

Have you checked here to see if there is any LLU ISP's on your exchange. They can offer better deals to people with a choice of cheaper ISP's.
