What's For Dinner Today ???

Keep posting P&C - I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this thread is helping me to stay (more) on track food-wise, so thanks for starting it and keeping it going!
Dinner tonight is a jacket potato with the last of the coleslaw and cold meats...:p
Time to go through the fridge/freezer and plan the next few days as cheaply as possible, as had a very unnecessary expense today... Had a plumber out to fix our boiler (necessary ) but his van got clamped and we ended up paying the unclamping fee of £95  (he had displayed his visitor's parking permit on the side window instead of in the front window...) and have now got to try and fight to get the cash back. Don't hold out a lot of hope for seeing that money again...:wall: (the clamping company are real rats when it comes to tricks like that!!) but, as Mr P said, if we hadn't paid the fee today, the plumber would just have incorporated the cost into our boiler bill anyway...:( At least this way, we are in possession of the receipt and can give it our best shot at fighting to get the money back!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi All
I enjoy reading this thread, although this is the first time I've posted to it.
I generally have a HM sandwich for lunch, usually chicken with a packet of crisps (from a multipack) and biscuit or chocolate. I try really hard to have some fruit too, but am not a big fruit fan (but love my veggies).
Having read the thread tho and I can see there's much more scope for using up leftovers, which is probably far more enjoyable too!
Will be making the effort over the coming weeks, and will post how I do!

Oooh, just found thread! I made (homemade) tomato soup with chilli this week. I used a tin of chopped tomatoes with garlic and herbs (co-op. 62p-ish) with some tomatoes in the fridge which were on the edge of going off, a red pepper, an onion and some crushed chilli flakes simmered for 40mins then blended. Very nice and spicy! And used bread rolls from the freezer so didn't spend anything extra except 62p which did lunch for 2 days, so 31p per day!!0

I love the thread P & C - just been lazy this week with 4 lots of jacket spud and homous and salad...toast for brekkie every day too
Its been great - spent £6 in tesco this week and had every brekkie and lunch and 3 dinners!!! Could do it cheaper but I eat so much with all he running -have still spent £10 on snacks and another £10 on two other dinners but have saved £30 on lunches so happy0 -
Hi Beencounting and laura2481:hello: - welcome to the thread...nice to see you posting! Laura - that soup sounds lovely (and we have a red pepper, some cherry toms and an onion that need using up in the fridge...hmmmm.....!!!).
Becky, well done on such a low spend this week. :T I've also found that I'm spending less now I'm keeping more of an eye on what I'm doing thanks to this thread - its great, isn't it?!
Lunch today is something very light for us - probably something salad-y or a bowl of soup. I've been a bit naughty and bought one of the M&S Valentine's meals for £20 for this evening...scallops & chorizo, steak with peppercorn sauce and caesar vegetables, and some yummy chocolate desserts with a bottle of wine (and a red rose!
). Very indulgent and not at all MSE, but we don't do pressies for Valentine's, just swap cards, so its good to have a treat occasionally...
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! :blushing:

Hi All
Just checked in the fridge and I have half a butternut squash which needs using. I'm going to make some soup out of it for lunch today, and that'll probably be enough for tomorrow too....and perhaps Monday...!:D
It's great the way this thread (and other's, like the grocery challenge) makes you consider all the money you're wasting...er, I mean, spending on food. It's certainly making me much more frugal!
Thanks P & C for starting it off! :T

Piglet - yesterdays tea sounds YUMMY!! & dont feel guilty - you've been so good lately you deserve a treat!x
Had meatballs for tea on friday... and lnch yesterday.... and lunch today! I'm going to end up looking like a meatball soon!
Think I'll take some HM carrot soup for lunch tomorrow and then make the trusty old tuna pasta salad tomorrow night for the rest of the week - give or take the odd day when I have leftovers from tea the night before...

got a free lunch today which was full on sunday roast at a friends house and ate two portions of everything so tonight was crackers and cheese from fridge and a creme egg bought with Boots points. Left over stroganoff and chilli for tea tomorrow (one portion of each left so its a coin toss between me and dd)DFW 228 LONG H 68

This is a great thread! Before my LBM, I must've spent about £20 a week on lunches at work. And inevitably, once you're in the supermarket you find other things to buy (magazines being an old favourite of mine!).
I take food in with me every day now and don't leave the office. Now I just need to kick my snack box addiction and I'll have more NSDs to write in my diary!
Tomorrow I'll be having a pastrami, tomato and salad cream sandwich (on brown!) with a bag of Hula Hoops (multipack) a yoghurt and an orange.
If I'm making pasta for tea I'll always cook more than I can eat so I have some leftover for work the next day. Gonna start making soups too and stop buying tins of Heinz!0 -
Hi All
Have just finished a tin(!) of carrot and corriander soup which was yum! Didn't have time to make sarnies this morning, so just grabbed the tin and some bread from the cupboard.
Have also got a cream egg for later...well, not much later!!
Was hoping to have had some leftover HM soup, but we ate it all on the weekend!
Only another day in work, then off for the rest of the week...yay!
