To be fair, though and although poor, that's an early career salary and you won't be expecting it to remain at that level?
Point taken, but it's still not a great salary compared to the careers I mentioned earlier. My boyfriend is a police man and he earns a fair bit more than me. He is exactly the same age as me, but has no qualifications post A level (where he acheived considerably worse grades than I did). Friends of mine from University who became teachers are also earning more than me. Nurses of my age are also earning more. I don't mind, because I wouldn't want to be a police officer or a teacher or a nurse.
Most doctors tend to be at least fairly bright just to get through med school, and have trained for a fair old time, so compared to what equals in other industries (eg law/accounting/architecture/denistry) are earning/potentially will earn, it's not great. Especially with large amounts of student debt (I believe the average final year medical student debt is over £20k).
Again, I don't want to be a lawyer/accountant/architect/dentist, so I'm not bothered. What does bother me is this notion that all doctors get paid £100k a year to play golf. It just isn't true, and it irritates me when I'm driving around in my 1996 Ford Fiesta that people think I'm earning a fortune!0 -

i'd rather sit around my council flat, drinking my stella, beating the dog, whilst watching my 46" plasma and playing playstation and smoking than clean toilets. and guess what? a load of bleeding heart liberals lets me.
until liberals realise they are (a) wrong in the past (b) wrong now and (c) wrong in the future, this country will be dragged down by these idiotic do gooders.
in 200 years, there will be 10% working and 90% scrounging. what a joke.
Brings to mind a sort of Brave New World, in reverse!0 -
I have no idea about the meaning of life, go talk to your iman, pastor, priest, spritulist, goat or chicken sacrificer
As for pensions i quite like the Australian system where people will opt out of contributions if they chose. It relies on the average joe being too apathetic to remove themselves. I believe a similar system is being made up for the UK but i do not know when it be implemented.
their in lies the problem with extreme views, their just never thought out so well,
if you dont think work is the meaning of life, then why do you want to force it on everyone? and where is the gain for you in doing so?
and i dont mean make pension optional, i mean if labour is to be forced, then why not just force us to work till we die? the gov hand out for pensions is irrelevant as is the hand out for doly's, sick, single mums or anyone else some are so outraged get financial support.
where do extreme views end? was hitler voted into power on a promise to Gas the Jews? and other atrocaties.
some of the extreme views that are expressed only make me think that if we actualy elected someone with thoes views, that would be the type of person that would stop at nothing, to achieve their agenda.
and ive yet to live under any governemnt that i actualy felt wasn't self serving.
so i certainly dont trust an extremeist.0 -

The real reason it ought not to be possible to make a lifestyle choice to be a single mother is because they end up having horrid unhappy lives and so do their children.
And if society is making it easier to choose that sort of life than to work because of a guilty reaction to the cruelty doled out to unmarried mothers in the past then it is (we are) peddling misery just as much as the drug dealers that blight their estatesIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Talking of the downtrodden underclass, there is a documentary just starting on Channel 4 and I had hoped PN would do the honours.Retail is the only therapy that works0

the australian system is a 9% compulsory deduction from your salary paid into a superannuation account in your name. your employer has to deduct it. you cannot opt out.0 -

welcome to labours Britain. Where even the Poles are heading back to Poland because its so depressingly bad and unfair here.
Stop taxing me to give to scum!!
I don't mind paying taxes to help me, and other tax payers ie street lights, defence, rubbish collections, police.
But not 190 free quid to little slappers who get up the duff. Not for 5 bedroon council houses, when I can only afford a house for 2 kids.
No one NO ONE who doesn't work should have more than anyone who does*
unless they are genuinely to disabled to work. that means the bad back brigade and the depressed brigade can get back to work. lazy scum. who cares if you are depressed. I ain't happy, but I work.
so realy you resent your life cos its rubbish, and other people have more, and project your self hate onto others in the hope of feeling better about your own missery.
wake up and realise, your life is your own making, the only person to blame if your not happy is your self. its not the doly's, sick, singlemums fault if they have more than you, and its not their fault you can only afford a 2 bed house.
you need to focus your anger the other way, and blame the ones who wouldn't let you in the 3,4,5 bed house club, if you are sure your so worthy of membership.:rotfl:
alternativly get of your own !!!! and improve your lott, & stop trying to justify your own life by looking around at others, and giving a $h!t about how they live.0 -
Me too! You and me could be brothers. I'm going to drink a toast in your honour tonight mate. Let some other idiot clean the toilets, the social covers everything all we need. A little bit of blagging for extras, and you and me are well sorted.
i'm in too, as long as it's a playstation 3.0 -

Like the way you say it,
Don't be scared to voice your opinion, too many others are and that's what has allowed for the spineless way British society has become, easy benefits, and a reward the lazy and criminal system.
If the government took more action we would have to voice our concerns like this. And we should not be made to feel like fascists, we pay taxes we deserve to have our voice heard, too many do-gooders, and sleazy, spin obsessed public servents, have imposed thier opinions on the public for too long, about time we got our turn.
And to all those moking the above quote, just because someone has a differnt opion to you does not make them thick or unintelligent.
A big thanks to all the comp posters for their effort0
