  • I remember in Milton Keynes we used to have;

    Chelsea Girl & Concept Man
    Jean Genie (not sure if this was a chain or local)
    Horne Brothers
    Bejam
    Snob (oh how I loved Snob)
    Sam Goody - record shop

    Vallances - electrical store
    Lewises - changed to Allders
    A makeup store that I think was called Bibi
    Is there still a Lillywhites?

    Can anybody remember crackerjacks? They were a box of popcorn and nuts.

    I miss the local stores., most of ours have all closed.

    A couple of years ago I went back to working full time in the ins industry. I was shocked by how many companies had gone, including Eagle Star, General Accident and Guardian Royal Exchange.
    ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷

    Has anyone mentioned State of Independence- it turned into Internacionale and really went downhill after the move, whereas before once you waded through the tat you could sometimes find something nice.
