  • Got another one! so now have £4, signiture will updated soon. Mine is going into my savings once I have £50 at home and from there I'm not exactly sure. I'm not actively seeking them or breaking notes purposely as it would hinder my moneysaving overall.

    A few years ago I quit smoking and started a little stash of coins which I would have used to buy ciggies - Well last weekend I started to count it all (been meaning to do it for agesssss,lost loads in interest) and have just been down to the bank with the proceeds. Lloyds were very good about it too !!

    £1 = £1870.00
    £2 = £640.00
    50p = £630.00

    Just goes to show how much you smokers could save financially and prolong your life through quitting the deadly weed, so well done :beer:
  • Can I join too please - I will check for £2's in my change pot, and post the total in my signature (might not be much :o).

    Alternative idea for storage: My hubby used to collect £2 coins for his grand-kids in the old-style camera film canisters. I don't know what they're called, but the little plastic pots that you used to get films in. He had lots of spare empty ones for some reason. Anyway, if you have any lying around, I think each one takes exactly 10 £2 coins!

    My change pot is quite full, and I was thinking of getting a coin-sorter because it would be fun, but then found out they were £24 PLUS BATTERIES! I will ask the bank for some bags instead and sort them by hand.

    ...I wonder if I'll find any film pots full of coins that hubby has forgotten about... ;)
    Debt at highest: £68,000 plus mortgages
    Current debt: £0.00!!!:D
    Now I just have to buy my Dad's share of my flat back and I can start on the mortgage...

    Went to Woolies yesterday to buy a new shredder and saw Coin sorters( the very one I used to count my stash) for £19.98 incl of batteries. If you're planning on saving a hell of a lot then worthwhile, but otherwise I'm not so sure.
  • i feel ready to join - i didn't want to until i had one, and the window cleaner gave me one in the change just now.

    Yay.

    i'm not sure what i'm saving for yet - i'll think about it and see how quickly i start to get them now. Perhaps a capital repayment on the mortgage if a lot, or a treat for me and DH if not as much, although looking at what some of you have already i feel lucky :o

    Now i need to look around for a suitable container as i wouldn't feel terribly MSE if i went and bought one.

  • Checked my other piggy.
