So, tonight in true Moneysaving/Blue Peter style me and my son are going to blow up a balloon, mix some flour and water, rip up newspapers and make our own!
Excellent idea Angel  I'll get the youngest to make one this weekend :j0 -

I see three dilemmas facing the £2 Coin Savers Club:
1. Do we simply collect coins we happen to receive or go out of our way to get them?
2.Does the possibility of getting a £2 coin in your change become a justification for spending money that you ordinarily wouldn't?
3. Do we save in pots or the bank? If you saved a £2 coin per week how much interest would you lose by keeping in a pot rather than banking? Anyone care to do the maths?!
Good luck everyone!!
1, I am going to save all the ones I get. To an extent I am going out of my way to get them by starting to swap all my lower denomination coins for them. I used to cash these in at sainsburys in one of those machines that takes 7% and gives you a voucher. So by stopping that I am stopping the loss. I am actively trying to go cashless as there is about £2000 a year that I take out the cash machine and can't account for!
If I got £8 in change in £2 coins from a tenner I would have to have a hard think about putting them all away.
2, I am only putting by some or all the ones I get given in change. I am not going to keep breaking £5 and £10 notes to see if I get any. My rule is that "if it gets home it goes in the jar", so if I am out and about and need to spend the £2 rather than break a note then so be it.
3, I am saving in a pot. The interest on my credit card is probably more than all my saving interests put together so I am not going to worry about losing a bit of interest at the expense of having a little fun and picking up some money saving tips.0 -
