personally id rather spend money on other things and not on food, food shopping is expensive i look to cut back wherever i can. If it tastes nice and fills us up then thats all im concerend with.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.
  • This thread should be all about if the offer is good value. The other topics should be for the Money Savers Arms? I think it is more ethical to buy free range BUT that is irrelevant to the offer. The offer is a BARGAIN! 1/3 price.

i cant believe this thread, its not up to people to judge others on the basis of what food they eat or buy

i buy value tuna, so im sure you all have got an opinion on that?

i will be stocking up on chicken tomorrow if its still on offer, so thanks op

and the person who posted that photo should get off her high horse, everyone knows what happens in this sort of farming.

you dont know where most of todays meat comes from so stop judging other people

I don' think being on a budget is an excuse to buy cheap meat - there a plenty better ways to get protein than that. I'd rather eat less good meat and add veg and pulses than £1 chicken. In case your wondering - my shopping budget was £30 for 4 for this week, inc packed lunches and a decent chicken from the butcher that will do 2 meals plus soup!

Very curious how you feed a family of four on £30. I would love to see your menu for this week to see if it will help me budget better.

I would love to buy better quality meat, but after buying fruit, veg and cleaning things there is no way i can think of to feed my family breakfast, packed lunches and tea with fruit snacks.

I make my own bread, cook from scratch, grow some of my own veg and don't buy crisps and ready meals and we rarely have a takeaway....so please please tell me how you do and post a meal plan.
  • This is a great grabbit for those on a budget and I will be checking out my local Asda today to buy some for my freezer. I buy cheaper chicken all the time because I cannot afford the ethical ones, I bought them when I could afford them in the past. We all have different priorities in life................

We are all well aware, I'm sure, of ethical chickens and can make our own minds up.

    Great grabbit op.

i too prefer to buy free range , but with the way things are at the minute i just cant afford to.
i do buy free range eggs but they were the mixed size 18 pack from asda for £1.50 so got a bargain there.
if i could be in the supermarket last thing at night to get all the free range stuff reduced i would, but i cant, and i cant afford to quadruple the amount of money i spend on a chicken at the moment :(
thankyou for the post op, if i could get down to asda before they go i would but i know thats near on impossible lol

  • actually there really nice just had them for dinner there a £1 instead of £3.23.

A big thanks to the OP, Teaahloic .I think a lot of you are missing the point here.

They are on SPECIAL, they are normally £3.23, they aren't in the budget range.

Surely a thread like this is for pointing out bargains not for debating value etc versus free range. Fair enough people feel passionately about this but this isn't the place to debate it.

My shopping bill is around 100 pound a week so yes I could afford the fancy organic chicken but I dont, I do for a Sunday roast get the rspca, just because it tastes a little better but if I wanted to be 100% free range oranic its very hard, as sometimes me and OH and really fancy a big bowel of chicken wings but sainsburs only sell the budget ones... so I buy them, I like to buy free range eggs just for the taste but when I buy egg mayo for my sandwiches its made from standerd eggs.

Sometimes yes the cheaper meat is a little watery, but like with bacon, every bacon scices I have ever fried has had some water come out of it in the frying pan except the dutchy one that was like 6.00 pound a pack!!! A pure treat and I wound never regulary spend that on one pack of bacon.

My father in law actually drives to a local farm kills and chops the meat himself for his resturant but its actually a lot cheaper than buying it from a store, plus you get to see the quality of the meat and living conditions..If I could drive I would be quite happy to do the same if it ment getting the good quality meat at a fraction of the price.

Also why dont sainsburyus sell raibbit?? it tastes soo much better than chicken...

It is much easier to see other people's failings than our own.
  • Can anyone please tell me where I can find a,lit of these special offers on at the moment from Asda

I live on freedom foods. My freedom to choose what food I buy/eat.

    Great spot OP. Absolute bargain.
