So if some people have the opinion that if you are going to eat meat, you should accept where it comes from and take the responsibility to make sure it has not suffered and has been produced properly - and this might mean paying slightly more for it - then surely they are just as entitled to express their opinion?
Cheap food does not necessarily equal good food and there may be a price to pay in terms of animal welfare, human health, UK farmers being forced out of business, to name just a few of the possible 'hidden' costs.
Very well said

As I previously said I did not buy any chicken yesterday but my sister did go and SHE did get it for £1. It could have been that our store had loads left and this is why they were still £1 (just goes to show that if this is the case that I really WASN'T filling my trolley at every opportunity! LOL!!!) but i'm not too sure.!!!!!! happens!!!:D0 -
hiya i wouldnt bank on getting a £2 gift card i was overhcarged on three different occasions and complained and asked about said gift card and all stores said they are discretionary... decided to ask head office about theyre policy and it is that they are supposed to issue a £2 gift card per transaction apologised profusely and said htey would contact the store and tell them to start giving them out .....
i then went few weeks later and was overcharged again went to customer services and again they denied the policy ended up with having a row with the manager and showing her my letter from head office after which she was left red faced to say the least lol0 -

With respect!
The point is this, this is a money saving forum, so deals are posted to save people money. The food deals are very often chicken of some description and the same argument pops up all the time. It is a personal choice and in times like this people do not need reminding that £8 chicken breast are better for you than the £1 chicken breasts. If they could, I'm sure most people would buy free range chicken, eggs blah, blah, blah, but people simply cannot afford it.
Headline on Sky News this evening.......some chap shoots his family because he lost his job! That is extreme but I think there are people missing the point, times are hard and people cannot justify spending £xx amount on food when alternatives are offered at a much cheaper price. Even though those alternatives are of lesser quality it makes a difference on folks' budgets and this is the most important factor on a moneysaving website!0 -
What I want to know is how you have roast chicken for sunday lunch and have enough over for 2 further meals? I bought an extra large chicken but we still managed to scoff the lot in one sitting (though I managed to hide 3 slices for daughters next day sarnie) . I suppose we must be 3 greedy adults .old enough for my bones to feel the cold .0

You include more veg with your sunday roast then you'll have enough for another meal.
I can make a medium chicken do sunday roast, monday pack ups, monday tea and a soup on tuesday.0 -

we buy probably a medium chicken, it's from the butchers so it's the first one that they pick up. I only use 1 side for the sunday lunch, always bulk out with roast potatoes (I get 2kg of maris' for 1.20) and parsnips, also have peas, carrots, broccoli and cauli too.
This usually gives enough left over for a chick+mush pie for 4 (often frozen for another date) and some for a light dinner (i might crush cornflakes with paprika then coat chicken in egg and shallow fry with some roasted tomatoes and boiled pots with some salad stuff.0
