I can't get the broadband in my area. Shame really, as it would have worked out about the same each month for line rental, calls, broadband and sky tv for the same I'm currently paying for line rental (BT) and broadband (Tiscali).
  • Seems a bit hard on us that have just had it installed after waiting for ages for a deal! We've been with Sky for more than a decade and I emailed several times and phoned to ask if there were any special offers. NO!!! So as a last resort I paid, less than a month ago and now I read this. Is there any way I can get a refund?

Just talked to an advisor and it appears you can still get HD but not the SKY+ unless as previously stated you pay £10/mth. Not sure if this is cheapest way to get HD?
I used to be undecided I'm just not sure now. :o

Thanx for the info, would also like to know, if you get HD & cancel after 12months will you still be able to receive the free HD channels ie BBC etc? :T
Yes you still get the freeview HD channels.
You can also get Sky+HD with NO ANNUAL CONTRACT for £194.77, not sure of the prices of fee sat but it doesnt seem a bad deal if you dont want to pay monthly but still get the extras.

How do you go on with Sky if the property concerned doesn't yet have a BT phone connected?

Do you have to get the line in first or can Sky arrange it?

And if they can, is it beneficial to let them do it, instead of contaqcting BT and doing it yourself?

The property I'm thinking about, being one my daughter might be about to go and live in, has not yet had BT do the £125 initial telephone land line connection.

Not sure if they are still doing this, but I moved into a new-build house last year with no phone connected. When ringing sky to arrange setting up the sky package, they informed me that they would refund the £125 BT connection charge in the form of credit on my account, so long as I sent them a copy of the BT invoice for the connection for proof. This gave me a few months of free sky.
It may be worth enquiring about when you arrange your installation.

What happens at the end of your 12M contract and you cancel. I know you keep the Sky + HD box but do you loose the HD and Sky+ recording facilities?

Yes you will lose the HD content (even free to air BBC HD) and all the recording facilities, back to the basic sky box.

I dont think you do, in their terms and conds it says: "HD ready TV required. Luxe TV HD, Channel 4 HD and BBC HD are available without subscription. Channel 4 HD requires a viewing card." So this would mean when you cancelled you would still receive these channels!

The offer is atill available, possibly not for cashback but it's still valid for those wanting free Sky+.

Apple ogies, when I hit submit I remembered the thread about the Tesco offer so this, hopefully, is true as I've just signed up to the new Sky HD deal

and if the £9.75pm HD charge isn't done away with by the end of the 12 months I will be cancelling it.

As for the recordings, I'm pretty sure this is disabled when you cancel your subscription
