Fish and chips in moderation is healthy food so try not to fret about it. Is weight watchers any good? I have thought about joining just to get the points book.

I just got the points book off ebay, I've never actually been to a meeting :o. I find the book good as I seem to do better if I have a target to stick to and planning my meals the day before has helped for me. I'm not too fussed if I go a few points over as I don't really snack that much in between meals. The only thing I don't really understand is some fruit and veg counts towards your daily points, I would have thought you could eat as much as you like of these.

Depends how many carbs are in the veggies, e.g. peas, sweetcorn, beans etc are all veggie but are also seeds and therefore have lots of plant sugars which have a carb load versus cabbage, celery, swede etc which have very little carbs. Veggies are still the best for you, fill you up for low point, provide vitamins and fibre. When in doubt go for the veggie, it will be better in the long run!

I'd imagine the starchy fruit/veg i.e. potatoes, sweet potatoes, bananas etc would be higher in points, is that right? (edit: Bunny200, snap!!! :rotfl: )

I've done ok today - horrible Weetabix and oatcakes for breakfast, last night's lamb stew for lunch and pork chops with veg for dinner (with a glass of wine!). But I had some chocolate earlier, I didn't feel good afterwards (quite queasy actually) so why did I have it?? Ho hum.

I went to the gym and did 20 minutes' running and some weights/sit ups. Not bad. I'm definitely going to keep going and try to build my fitness. That Sam Murphy book is excellent, it really makes me think about how to actually lose fat rather than just exercising randomly and hoping for the best. Although I weighed myself this evening and it said 61.8kg and back to 25.3% body fat again!!! I think I'll get my body fat measured by the doctor just to know once and for all what it actually is.

Could it be an every changing thing maybe depending on things like how much water you have drunk? I did the whole BMI/Body fat/water thing on the scales earlier and wondered about it. I dont know - just a thought

No wine today here for once  - had a glass yesterday and decided I didnt really want it and only poured it because the bottle was open so having juice today :A

Good morning, I hope everyone's well.

I wasn't very good yesterday, I'm still feeling queasy at times and fine in between, so am moving too little and eating as if I'm still exercising . Weight is down 1lb though.

tara747, I have fat scales and they always show a large increase in fat % in the evening. Even for my skinny son (his 'normal' is around 12% fat), I think it must be something to do with electrolyte balance/food in tummy. I just weigh myself in the morning now, and that's fairly consistent. (Waaay more than your fat% though:o)

Here's to a 'good' day today!

Thanks Nanuq (and jessicamb), that could be it. I will only weigh myself in the morning in future. Congratulations on the 1lb also!! :D

I have noticed myself getting more of an appetite in the last few days or so, am also getting a bit munchy. I'm wondering if (a) the hoodia has stopped working or (b) it is still working and I am just being greedy and going back to my old snacky ways!! So I am taking no hoodia today and will see what happens.

I'm getting my body fat properly measured this evening by a friend who's a nurse, she has callipers (eek) so I will know for definite what % it is.

Also, I won't make it to the gym tomorrow at lunchtime (meeting at work over lunch, grrr) so am thinking of going today instead to make up for it... just need to work up the motivation!! Any encouragement gratefully received. :o

The Rosemary Conley classes sound like fun BTW, I really like dance/exercise classes. :j
