I'm not going to tell you what we're having for dinner tonight as doing the darn IB50 has left me in no state to even think about what to cook, let alone cook it when I've thought, so it's something from M & S
but I should feel better in a couple of of days.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - time to vent
Flaming insurance companies. It turns out that we are expected to disconnect gas cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine and move all these plus taking up the old flooring for them to come in to put the new flooring down. Now if we wanted a new floor thats fair enough but this is an insurance claim that we pay for and we are expected to do all the work!!! DH has said he will get a quote so that someone will come in and do all the moving as well as put a new floor down. Insurance companies
aaaaaaaaaaaaaand relax

Hi everyone
I know I've been away for a bit but I have kept reading. I always feel a little bit low when I come back from visiting my family and this year it just seemed to go on and on. But......after reading Halight's post this morning I gave meself a good talking to and realised life aint that bad
((((hugs)))) to everyone who needs or wants one.
OS wise have been batch cooking and the usual cleaning etc. Have just got a new slow cooker as the glaze had all cracked and after cooking some red cabbage last week it went a bit pinkish and smelt of vinegar, washed it loads of times but it didn't make any difference, it was only a cheap one so it had to go. New one is the same make, would actually have liked a better one but OH went out and got it all by himself, he said he knew how much I used it and would miss it, awwwww bless.

Chrisca, in defence of insurance companies (not that I like defending companies, lol), that'll be the flooring people's rules. Some companies won't move anything cos of complaints of damage - a lot of the time, people complain when the damage was already there and they use the fitters as an excuse to have things replaced for free. The insurance company will tell you that you have to use someone from their approved list (the approved list is usually only 3 companies long and they sometimes get onto the list with backhanders  ) but that's total rubbish so get your quote and tell them to stick their rules
Don't let them fob you off with Allieds - they're struggling and probably about to disappear. CarpetWrong (as I like to call them) won't be too far behind.
Well, we didn't get anything done in the garden  cos mr tru declared it too cold to work outside  I'd have gone out there by myself but I can't move 2 greenhouses on my own, so that's that
Oooh if anyone's interested, B&Q were reducing the Christmas decs to silly prices today - 50p for a big wreath, 50p for a pinecone garland. The dearest thing I saw was 95p.
I really don't like the burgendy rectangle that's appeared on the bottom left of the posts

I read that and refreshed, now the quotes in people's posts and the bit where usernames, location and avatars are have gone pale yellow, and the rectangle has disappeared

Mine's a sort of peachy colour!
Well today's plan for a Costco chicken didn't come off. Decided as I was simply too tired to go, and as I've been signed off work I should only be doing what I feel like.
So what to give parents. They don't do spicy! not keen on rice. Found there were 4 meat burgers and I had a nutburger, must make some more of each and soon, hm breadrolls were in the fridge. Had all the bits and pieces cheeseslices etc. HM potato wedges. Made some coleslaw. I like the milder flavour and less greasy dressing of HM.
Pudding was going to be jam based to use up the end of 2 jars. remembered there was some suet, so did a jam roly poly and custard. Not done one for years. Did it in the combi microwave, but dh was faffing with fitting the new burglar alarm and all the power went off  Got it sorted out in the end and carried on cooking.
Now I've invited my MIL as well tomorrow, so got a chicken out of the freezer. Don't know about veggies and pud. Will think about what needs using up. Mum and Dad are going tomorrow after the meal.

Evening all,
Hilstep - Jealous of your new car, I love that colour
Mioliere - Keep the reviews of Co-Op stuff coming, I am considering starting shopping there as they are one of the better supermarkets (in terms of ethics)
Sybil - I had just eaten my dinner when I read that. I had a boiled egg.
LW - Tell me more about the cross stitch light switch surrounds please!
Well, Mum and I scoured the charity shops today and I picked up some lovely things - a wicker plant pot, a nice shabby chic frame with blue and pink roses on it, some wool plus a popcorn bowl to use as part of a movie themed gift and Grub on a Grant . Spent a grand total of £6.13. :j Then I went to Morrisons and bought some veg and milk ready for going home on Sunday
Just going to have a shower now and curl up in bed
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0
