But the heading of your thread reads SHOULD I SEEK COMPENSATION.
And that someone said you should sue. What for? The principle?
You cannot get damages for what could have happened; only for what DID happen.
Of course, you are entitled to a new shower door. That goes without saying.
You would also be offered a small compensation payment if you were to go down that route. But that would be for your cuts. Not for what might have happened.
And if you are still distraught and being physically sick, if it doesn't stop soon, it would be well advised to seek some medical advice.0 -
Hi Id say you had a case to ask for some form of compensation. Ignore the sarcastic comments .0

just for your information thanks i am out of pocket i was hurt and i was not going to claim"for the slightest thing", you shouln't label everyone the same there are genuine people out there too. The company had a faulty product which ended in me being injured because they failed to notify us, thats there negligence, and that was the advice i was asking straight away people jump on the same old band wagon that everyone quote... everyone is out to get money ..... well i wasn't, deal with it.0 -
I had a similar thing a few nights ago..I was using my Kenwood Blender which had boiling hot soup in it...As I walked to the sink, the handle fell off and the blender jug fell on the floor, splashing hot liquid everywhere..walls, ceiling, curtains....and all over my legs...The first thought that went through my mind was Oh My God..the baby is safe and well in his cot upstairs, what if he was old enough to walk or crawl he might have got hurt, what if my little one had been in the kitchen he might have got hurt, what if it hadnt happened late at night he might have got hurt, what if the dogs had been in the kitchen, what if my elderly nan had come to visit and by some stroke of coincidence had been in the kitchen 3 hrs after she normally went to bed because she was desperate for some home made soup....the list went on...
So I immediately cleaned up the kitchen, thanked my lucky stars that it was only a waste of cleaning fluid and hot soup, changed my clothes, went on the internet to find a replacement jug and put it down to experience.
Compensation? Nope, i'm leaving that game to the soldiers who come home from Iraq missing limbs and other far more important causes......'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0 -

All very emotive but it doesn't come from the same funds so you are not comparing apples and apples.0 -
Maybe not but at least I am not jumping on the bandwagon....after all I'm sure I could get something for my predicament...but I put it down to experience and am thankful it wasnt more serious.'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0

there was damage done, i never said we were getting a new shower door very persuming, but thanks for the advice...... not....... never persume anything!!!! this contry should learn from that at least.
Sorry, what does persume mean?
I didn't say you were getting a new shower door either. I said it would be a suitable way of rectifying the situation if they replaced your shower door at their expense and your convenience.the company had a recall on the brackets and not notified me its not about injury i'm not piling anything on just what could of been and what the company should of done as my kids were in bath on that night earlier......... its negligence.... no....... thats whats wrong with this country no responsibility. I just want the matter resloving, my bathroom restored and i'm still hoping the company will do this at least, but i sit and wait.
But you told us you bought the shower door in 2006, so it's been there for 2.5 years already without incident.
The point being that you are fine, your kids are fine, and nothing did happen to your kids.
Perhaps the company weren't aware that the brackets were faulty, particularly if they'd been OK for a few years before an incident was reported, so although they were recalling them, it wasn't deemed as urgent. Perhaps they only keep customer details for a year or two after sales, so were finding it hard to contact those that had had their shower doors for much longer?
Accidents do happen.
You mentioned that people were advising you to sue, but as your kids are fine, and nothing actually happened to them, then an apology from the shop would be satisfactory surely?
Actually, my dad had a bomb that I used to play with for about 4 years, until we realised it was still live. Perhaps I should think about suing him, as it might have blown my hands off!! (The point being, that although dangerous, I still have 2 hands!)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

From OP's original post: "leaving me cut on my hand arm ankles and left side luckly nothing severe"
As for your point about the bomb, there was no damage so its not quite the same point.0 -
Thread title and text:should i seek compensation?
"The company had a faulty product which ended in me being injured because they failed to notify us, thats there negligence, and that was the advice i was asking"
Looks very much like it is all about the money to me, but that is how you come across. Things happen, things break, people get missed, sometimes with consequences. For you there were none.
The reason I suspect that many on this thread are being critical is because of the phrases you are using. Alluding to being physically sick from fright, kids being scared, 'I could have been killed' etc. The sorts of things malingerers and p*ss-takers say when they want to get some compo from somewhere after they trip over a crack in the pavement whist blind drunk.
If you were not hurt, and are genuinely not one of the hated memebers of the so-called 'compensation culture', do what the rest of us would do; be thankful and get on with you life!
