we bought a new bathroom in 2006 costing a lot of money around 5 grand. We got a p shaped bath with curved shower screen. I was showering the other night and the glass door fell of smashing everywhere leaving me cut on my hand arm ankles and left side luckly nothing severe but i am very distraught and shook up as my 2 small children where in there not long before it could of been catastrophic. I contacted the supplier and apparantley there has been a recall on the brackets as they not safe fit for the job and they have contacted customers obviously not me, said they just got back log of more customers to contact and unfortunalty i probably in that pile this was brought to attention around 2 months ago apparantley. It would be very nice if someone could give me some outside advise as i'm being advised to sue and also so just accept replacement not sure what to do i am really angry that it could of been my kids in there not me physically sick at the thought so would love some advise, many thanks.

I'd accept the apology and a replacement. Whilst its not a nice thing to happen and may have shook you up, its not a major accident and nobody was bady hurt.
Where injuries are severe compensation can help, but for a couple of cuts you are unlikely to get very little, if anything.0 -
I don't think its unreasonable to expect some sort of compensation for your cuts and your fright. What i would stop thinking about or worrying about is that it could have been your children in there, the point is they werent and it didnt, so just get on with it. Hope youre okay nowmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

The tried and tested "small children could be killed" exaggeration....."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I agree, as in my post, could but didnt, move on.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You wouldn't get much for a couple of cuts.
And you would get nothing for "it could have been a child".
Personally, I'd move on. Too much bother.0 -
Your not out of pocket, maybe except for a couple of plasters. This country is turning into a place where everybody will sue for the tiniest things. You werent badly injured, your kids werent there and never got hurt, just accept the replacement. You wont get anything.0/2013

Not correct. Bizarrely the 'going rate' for a paper cut is about £75.00.
The Post Office is inundated with claims for this sort of thing.
OP - yes you are entitled to something. However, it will be a small claims matter and it is up to you whether you can be bothered to pursue.0 -
will you get a new shower screen - or just the brackets?0

As I have previously said, compensation should be reserved for those who have perhaps lost a limb (landmine) or braindamaged (starved of oxygen at birth).
Yes, it was frightening, yes you had a few minor cuts, but the main point is that you are fine, no damage is done, and you'll be getting a new shower door.
You should always think of those more unfortunate than yourself before going down the compensation route, as it is a very selfish thing to do.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Yes but in fairness the OP has asked for what they could do and not your opinion. I don't want that to sound harsh but putting a guilt trip on the OP doesn't really help things.
Compensation isn't and shouldn't be 'reserved' for serious injuries. It is awarded on a sliding scale - no loss of earnings and no lasting damages, then the award will be very low.0
