not sure if anyone has told you this before Leopardlady, but fresh citris peelings work wonders with cats. Just save your orange/lemon peelings and dump it around your plants!Tim0

my cat does not get put off by citrus, and he appears to be the biggest culprit! The netting is ok, and seems to be working, thanks though

I'm away from home atm but before I left I potted up all my toms (hundreds and thousands, garden perle and hanging basket) and moved them to the greenhouse. Also put some strawbs in hanging baskets in the greenhouse so I should get an earlier crop than the garden strawberry tower.
My turnip and beetrrot seedlings were just poking through in the polytunnel and the 3 troughs of peas were just latching on to the pea sticks. There were signs of life in the mange tout trough too. :j
So far the frogs and the lidl beer traps seem to be controlling the slugs again this year as my radish, cos lettuce and rocket seedlings are so far untouched.
There won't be much to report until I get home but hopefully everything will survive.

Hi all! Have had a busy weekend - got my tomatoes( alicante) basil and chillis potted up and put in my wee greenhouse. Im bringing them in at night though as there has been a bit of frost here during the night. Have started some coriander in pots on my windowsill. Outside Ive sown beetroot and carrots in a big pot and some strawberries in a bag! Here's hoping! This is my first attempt at any of this, Im enjoying it so much. I just wish I could stop being so impatient for results!

For 2 years now I have been attempting to grow tomatoes & for 2 years I just don't seem to be able to manage, any hints or tips would be greatly received.
Hugs
HelenWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Good morning all, wow what a weekend!
We have built netting cages over the veg beds and the cats can no longer get to them, and the garlic, shallots, pots and other bits are all pleased with the increased head room.
My Oh is a star for building them yesterday.
I have 4inch high squash seedlings in my tiny indoor homemade greenhouse, and one in my tower, loads of tom seedlings peeping through as well, i am soo excited and go out at least twice a day to see how everything is and get soo excited with a ting bit of green poking through, it is addictive and so enjoyable. Lets hope the weather continues

I think we've all found the answer to depression. Get sowing !
Every day we have something to check and nurture when we get up and weeks of pleasant anticipation for when the crops start arriving. All this :Dfor the cost of a few packets of seeds, some of which will last for several years. . Just think how much the NHS would save on anti-depressives if everybody had access to a few pots or a little bit of ground for growing their own. One of the best reasons I know for getting out of bed in the morning, especially when the sun is shining.:D0 -

What a fantastic idea. I love getting up everyday just to check what has changed in my pots or the ground. It made me get out everyday while i was having a miscarriage. A lot better than counselling or pills for me:T
Lets all get sowing and growing:jLeopardlady
