Ok
This means your router has not been able to log onto your ISP's internet access service.
On the routers (web based) 'Basic Settings' page what do you have - especially in the 'Does your Internet Connection require a Login'? bit0 -
I have said "yes" that it needs a log in and put my broadband info from Virgin which I've re-entered a few times! (Won't know until I get a reply from them if I need to change this info for the router.)Torgwen..........

Fran,
are you entering your user name in the format:
fran.fran@adsl.virgin.net?604!0 -
What about the other settings (mainly Encapsulation) - According to some obscure web site I found it should be PPPoA (Which matches what T_OG said earlier)0

Here's a curious thing...
For a while I was using a netgear router signed in under my screen-name in AOL
AOL recommends that you give the router its own screen-name so that people on different computers can use the aol software without getting signed out.
When I had some spare time, I decided it was time to give a router its screen-name. I used these instructions (step 6).
No matter what I did, I could not get the router to connect with the new name - and I tried everything.
In frustration I read the instructions again - but I read them wrong - where it says "The password cannot be longer than eight characters long" I read "the username can only be eight characters long"
I created a new screen-name only eight character long and the router accepted it immediately
I don't know how this helps people not on aol- I must have tried 100 different things that day and only changing the name made a difference0 -
I have seen theDG834G Router Success Page!
This post is possible due to a wireless router.... ;D
I tried several changes on that page, including the PPP setting which I had as PPPover ethernet(?) which it said was most common. I tried saying that "no" I didn't need a password, and tried putting in different password. Went back to automatic settings and then started on the "Install" page again, checking through that, which includes restarting computer. This time I just put my address.....@adsl.virgin.net and my broadband login password, set everything to automatic again and it worked. I now have to go and look up my old thread about browser changes as I've started getting a pop-up from Spybot every minute again.
I had disabled the Windows firewall while doing all this in case there was a conflict (but still left Sygate firewall on), and switched it back on just now, so see how that works, seems ok at the moment.
Now to press post for the first wireless post.....,,,,,, ;DTorgwen.....................
