Crafting for gifts-2009

Oh God, not another craft thread (only joking Sian). I've only just caught up with the crafting for Christmas 2009 thread! Got some brilliant ideas from the 2008 thread, some of which made it into Christmas 2008 but many are still on the list for 2009...
So far I'm planning to knit a pirate sweater and a flowery cardigan, and cross stitch a picture all for birthday presents, knit an Easter bunny (you guessed it, for Easter), and make a sweetie bouquet for MIL for mothers day. Oh, and some kind of scrapbook for my DH 30th birthday this year and a 60th survival kit for my FIL birthday. I have masses of saved links and scribbled notes ready for Christmas but I'm too indecisive to make a final list yet (besides, I'm sure there'll be many more brilliant ideas through the year). I have bought a few bits in sales that will go into hampers though. I've also bought a load of stuff for cardmaking in sales as I'd like to do more of that this year too.
All I need now are an extra few hours in each day and I'll be sorted!

Hi, a friend of mine wants to paint a picture for his new baby granddaughter but can't think of any ideas, he says he'd like to do something that she could keep for the future aswell.
The only thing I could think of was some faries, does anyone else have any inspiration?0 -
I can't remember what I was looking at yesterday, but there were some really sweet pictures of babys feet (ok that doesn't sound good). There's probably an Anne Geddes type picture of the sort of thing I'm thinking of, I'll try to remember what it was I was looking for at the time...
Alternatively, choose a nursery rhyme. My DS was given a picture depicting 'Hey Diddle Diddle' for a Christening present but it's pretty easy to create an image from any favourite rhyme.

The nicest pictures I've even seen were a set of three scenes where a teddy bear mummy and baby were doing 'normal' things - climbing up the stairs, out in a pushchair and reading a book. They weren't cute and cuddly - just teddy bears in a 'human' situation and I thought they were simple fabulous and were special for the Mum & the baby! Might spark some ideas?
- forgot to say the teddy bears are dressed like humans too!Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -

I live all the ideas you've been given, here are a few more -
1. Silhouette in black paint on white - adult holding child's hand. Child holding teddy. All walking along the beach. I've seen this as an embroidery and looks very nice.
2. Mabel - Lucy Attwell inspired design
3. All our Yesterdays inspired design
4. Little mice or squirrels and their house inside a tree0 -

Mary I found a cushion that requires no sewing if you have a round pad already or minimal sewing if you have to make and stuff a pad!http://www.allfreecrafts.com/sewing/round-pillow.shtmlPucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0

she grinch - love that idea - have got a round-is cushion I got from charity shop that is so naff I wonder why I bought it (rush of blood to the head or more likely megga senior moment !) and even got some material lurking upstairs. My friend gave me a top some years ago and I've lost weight so can't wear it and its sort of velvety patchwork pattern.......would be perfect :T Thanks !! (the list is growing longer and longer..............lol)
Need some ideas what to do with a box I rescued from OH's pantry clear out yesterday...........its got four sections and sliding perspex top with rope handle. It had mustard in it when we had it..........don't want to just put soap or anything like that in it though suppose I could do mix up of soap, candle andtwo other things...........Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
