Tough call, it may get cheaper, it may not. Problem is demand will increase as we get closer to winter - can't see a heatwave happening anytime soon!

Part of the reason oil is cheaper is that the failure in the banking sector is leading to acceptance of widespread recession. In a recession, consumption of oil reduces. Ironically Lehman Bros were one of the main offending futures speculators that had oil trading above $140. I don't believe you'll see a return to the $65 barrel as there is general acceptance now that oil supply is reducing in the medium term. I'd say $80-90 a barrel is more realistic. Todays prices should reflect as reductions in heating oil over the next week. Good time to buy methinks (pity I filled my tank last week...DOH!)

  • Yesterday the AA said that they expected petrol prices to drop significantly within the next 14 days, so heating oil should be the same. Just keep watching, then pounce like Stephen Nolan on a Cheeseburger.

    STOP PRESS.
Oil down by $10 a barrel to $88.xx, so definitely wait as prices will have to fall now.
