The warranty will still be with the manufacturer. Check your small print. If Empire Direct did them, extended warranties don't count though - but even if they did check the warranty terms as it may be through another company that didn't go into administration, so contact them directly. As its a year ago, they might have paid for yours!
Good tip, I'll be checking my ExtinctDirect warranty for my TV to see who it's actually with.0 -
actually I think you only need to pay for £100 on a CC (as per MSE guide) but still get full protection.
The real lesson from this though isn't that you should take stuff away with you, it is that you should ALWAYS pay for big items (online or instore) by credit card. Even if you have the cash, you should pay by at least some by card, then pay the card off immediately. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

Just to let everyone know, Empire Directors(who shall remain nameless)who have known about this happening for weeks, have still encouraged us,as staff, to take as much money from the "customer" as possible.Even today at work, before we were shut down in a matter of minutes(with no communication at all) allowed us to take hundreds of pounds in cash from people for deliveries that were never going to happen, without worry. i hope they feel as guilty as i do, but i doubt it!
Knowingly trading while insolvent is an offense - if there is anything to substantiate this please make it available to the victims - staff and customers.

Its a serious acusation to make and could be extremely costly for the directors if held by a court to have occured.0 -

well, at 1100am they called the driver back in to the branch with all the stock he was out delivering. explaining to him, that they can't pay him the 20kplus they owed him.so they knew then! At 2.00pm i took cash for a tv that the system allowed me to book out for delivery today as it happens! (the website wasn't working correctly and was unable to take payments but the systems in store were working as usual and all the staff were taking orders right up to a few minutes b4 the administrators walked in)obviously he won't be getting that. Also all staff were told they had to do an "emergency stocktake" after we finished work at 4pm on the day before(some staying till midnight to get it finished) As it transpires, this was purely to establish as to wether the company were holding enough stock to trade under administration. The company also knew at this point that the staff would never get paid for this "overtime"0 -

Well, It happened i promise you but who is going to take it any further?(easier said than done) I would love to see the directors get what they deserve as,i'm sure, would a lot of other people. The actions of the directors of the company have been, lets say, very shady. no communication at all, even with store managers0 -
I think it should be a matter for, say, the Fraud Squad nearest their Head Office. The administrators did not just beam down from a space ship at 16.00, they must have been 'booked' and have had hours, if not days, of prior warning, so for all those hours (or days) the company must have been trading fraudulently.
They probably get round it by saying they are 'going into administration' and hope to trade in administration (even though they know in fact they cannot).
You would think the credit card companies would press for action as presumably it is they who foot the bill, being jointly liable if a customer has used a credit card.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0
