  • I got a coffee maker from my dad for xmas but it broke within 2 days (only the third time I'd used it!). They agreed to refund & it was collected yesterday.

Does this mean that my dad is now one of their creditors so will get virtually nothing back? or is he entitled to the full amount back? I'm fearing the worst.

    Help!!!

Placed order for delivery which is due today. I opened an account with them so that I can pay for my item over 12months at 0% interest.

Will I still get my item?? If I do will I have to pay the amount in full or can I return the item?? Should I just not accept the delivery???

Would be shocked if any orders due today are actually delivered.

No Additions, Kays and Marshall Ward arn't connected. Your thinking of Empire Stores not Empire Direct.

It's Empire Direct that have gone into administration.
  • I wonder what this means for items in for repair

I sent my TV back on 09 Jan for repair (and phoned them Friday last week to be fobbed off)

If my TV is with an outside contractor, then no doubt they will not have been paid by ED, and presumably might want to use my goods as a method of making some kind of return on their work undertaken, in other words might they sell my TV.

Alternatively, as this TV was 'provided' by Direct Line under an insurance claim less than 12 months ago, do I have comeback with them - any legal-eagle out their have an opinion on this.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

bit off topic but seeing as people are going on about warranties...are they really worth it? we have been offered 10 year guarantee on new windows and a 5 year guarantee on a new boiler...whos to say these companies will be around in 5 or 10 years!? You really can't buy something these days because of the long term warranty unfortunately.

    sorry for all the employees.

Surely to keep your TV would be theft, as the TV is your property, not the property of Empire Direct, and as such should not be held as leverage over them.

I suppose they may, however, say that as Empire Direct will not now be paying their charges, their bill for repair of your set must be paid by you before its return, as the warranty no longer exists.
