Wow, i just cancelled an order with them .phew!
  • I'm one of the unlucky people who have lost their jobs because of all this. Just to let everyone know, Empire Directors(who shall remain nameless)who have known about this happening for weeks, have still encouraged us,as staff, to take as much money from the "customer" as possible.Even today at work, before we were shut down in a matter of minutes(with no communication at all) allowed us to take hundreds of pounds in cash from people for deliveries that were never going to happen, without worry. i hope they feel as guilty as i do, but i doubt it!

I cant belive the company allowed you to take orders, that is awful, did you have no idea at all that this was happening ?, what an awful thing to happen to all the staff. I wonder if the people will get the orders they placed ?, will you get paid ?, my heart goes out to you

Don't let the credit card/ finance company fob you off - they should now adopt the liability for the warranty which was part of your purchase under Section 75.
  • My next door neighbour and best friend, had ordered a 42" panasonic and was expecting delivery TODAY... I am so sad for her, and the worst is that she paid with her bank debit card. I know this does not compare to the misery that all the ex employees must be feeling but it is still very hard.
I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.

I bought a Panasonic plasma tv in November 2008 and got it from Empire Direct purely because of the 5 year warranty. As far as I know the warranty was with them and not Panasonic, but would be grateful if anyones knows anything further about this. Shame because I have could have bought the TV cheaper elsewhere, but I really thought the 5 year warranty was worth having.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

    Help!!!

Placed order for delivery which is due today. I opened an account with them so that I can pay for my item over 12months at 0% interest.

Will I still get my item?? If I do will I have to pay the amount in full or can I return the item?? Should I just not accept the delivery???

I think as it is a credit agreement you will be safe, if the item is over £100
  • i brought a big american fridge and dishwasher had a call yesterday to collect as they had come in stock lol, paid deposit in debit card and took the 6 mth intrest free to pay off rest nearly paid as these were ordered last year, due to not being in stock. do i contact credit company and stop payments or carry on paying for goods i haven't received
  • I always wondered how 5 year warranty's were being offered on top of really keen prices.
No wonder the bigger retailers have been reluctant to price match with them recently and never match the warranty deals, the margins in electricals are no where near what they used to be.
