Tracey04;17910595]I am no longer with my partner, so can I still claim as I cannot get him to sign and don't know if his tax code changed that year. tax year 2002/2003 wasa the year we split up. any advice grateful. Thanks
Hi
I'm in same situation as you as I am no longer in touch with my ex. I spoke with tax office today. They advised numerous people in this situation. I had to complete the form in my own name, put his NI number on (I still have details of this) and attach a letter detailing why he hadn't signed the form. They also advised that it would be at least April before any funds would be paid due to their backlogs.
Claims can't be made for 2001/2002 as you can only claim tax back for the last six years.
Staff are helpline were really helpful.
Hope this helps someone.0 -
I applied for this just before Xmas and as far as I knew, was entitled to the £1, 047 amount....got cheque this morning for £222.07. I called my local office and he said Childrens Tax Credit was actually a tax relief and the money we are getting/ applying for now, is the extra tax we paid.
Im still writing to query the amount though.0 -

Thanks for that I haven't sent it yet, I am now a little confused. According to the HMRC site you have to send the form to your local tax office which for me is Reading. I am no longer with my employer as I am now self employed, however my husband is still with his employer and his employers tax office is in Belfast. Can anyone clarify do I send it to Belfast (my husbands work) or Reading (my local office) or doesn't it matter.0 -
URGENT
Just want to say,I used the link in the first post to locate my local office.I have been trying to ring them for days (i nearly posted the form off anyway to that address)
When i got through to them today (the contact centre,) the adviser (whose details I took) told me i needed to send it ,not to my local office as listed in the link, but to where my records are held, which is the other side of the country.0 -
Does anyone have the helpline number? The one printed on the notes is unobtainable ( 0845 300 1036).
