Anyone else really confused by this.
I am eligable (son born during that time, was working etc) but I have no idea which form it is I need to download and fill in. I checked the website but am not sure I have got the right form.
Why is it only 1 year we can claim for? Anybody know?
I have no idea what my tax code was at the time but I did get tax credits.
Has anybody got a link to the actual form please?
thanks
You can only claim for 2002/2003. The current child tax credit was introduced in 2003 and is different to this childrens tax credit. Go to the first post on this thread and click the tax office link it will take you straight to the form.0 -
The form says to post to your local tax office, as the deadline is fast approaching, does anyone know if there is a particular dept it should be addressed to i.e. tax credits dept? (I only ask as the main tax credits office is in Preston and this is not my local tax office). I think I will also send recorded delivery to make sure it arrives before 31st.0

Hi I work in a tax office and have been answering hundreds of queries about the Child Tax Credit. If you ring any tax office they will be able to give you the correct address for your own tax office as long as you have your National Insurance Number. Recorded delivery is a good idea1:rotfl:Life is not about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce:T0 -
I know many have you have questions about this, but do what I did.... phone the line on the HMRC website for your local area, give them your national insurance number and details and they will be able to tell you in seconds whether you are entitled or not, as I was not working the answer was not, but the line is open until 8pm and I got the hubby to phone when he finished work, luckily for us we do qualify as we were not paid it in 2002/2003. :j
They are happy to help and both advisors today were quite happy to tell us we do qualify, so after we send the forms in, we should expect a juicy cheque some time in the next few weeks, depending on how long it takes to process the claim. :TStarting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

could you please tell me where abouts on the hmrc website to find the number to ring for the local area? thanks
Yes by following the link in the OP, I then clicked on the form required which takes you to another page where you can download the form by pdf and also has contact information for employers or individuals, i clicked on individuals then it asks you for your postcode and brings up your nearest office details, at the top of the page is the contact number for your area.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs

Wow! Thanks so much for the tip! My partner and I are both unemployed at present, this would be a huge help as our landlord has gone bankcrupt and we need to raise a deposit when we have to move! We obviously won't be getting the deposit back from him...0
