I sent mine in on January 20, first class mail. I received a letter from them last week stating that it was 'received after the deadline'. Should've sent it recorded delivery!

 Surely the envelope would have been stamped by the actualy post office that it was in the post before the deadline?! When I worked at DVLA we had to keep the envelopes for that very reason so it might be worth asking them!

The whole deadline part of this annoys me as I am pretty sure if YOU owed THEM money you wouldnt be able to turn around and say sorry you have missed the deadline and I am not paying you! What annoys me more is that they tried to 'hide' the credit and not make us aware that we were entitled to it!. There will undoubtedly be an appeals procedure.

I called Friday and was supposed to hear back within 72 hours and guess what............ no call

  • I sent in my claim in the middle of January and had heard nothing, so I decided to ring my local tax office this morning. They said that it had not been received even though I sent it recorded delivery! Anyway the nice lady on the phone said that she accepts that I sent it in on time and has asked me to send in my details again. Lets hope she is true to her word, as I can't find my recorded delivery slip!. Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed for you!! My tax office haven't said they didn't recieve it but have asked me to do another set of forms so I am praying they will deal with it as if it had got there in time as I sent the original one in mid Jan!! :o

  • Hi - I completed the 11CTC.PDF tax form and returned it in January 09 and have not heard anything back from them. I contacted my tax office today to be told they have not received it and it was not to late to claim. Anyone know where I can go now as they say they no longer hold tax details beyond 6 years and they are unwilling to help me further.
  • Thank You - I think I'll write to them with my details and see what happens - fingers crossed x
