Can you claim Children's Tax Credit from 2002/3?

I completed an application form in January re the tax credits that people may be entitled to for 2002. I have not heard anything since and am aware that some people have stated that the deadline for hearing something is 10.04.09.
Is anyone else waiting to hear? also if any refund is due could it be paid in my salary or does payment get sent to you by cheque. Has anyone got a number I could call to chase up?
Thanks:o0 -
hi beaniebabe,
you will receive any money due in a cheque, the deadline was 10/04 so if you haven't heard they can now chase this up for you.
ring your local tax office, where you would have posted to, if you don't know the number ring 118 118.
hope this helps and good luck xx0 -
Can I just add that your tax office is where you records are currently held, it is the one your present or last employer if not now working, head office uses. It may not be that local to where you live, it could be at the other end of the country.0

I just called to chase my claim up again and was told they are dealing with mail up to 23 Feb just now so it will be within the next 3 weeks i will hear from them. This was for the East Kilbride Office."I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. I rang to check on my claim yesterday 15/4/ and was told I wasn't entitled to any tax back because I wasn't working at the time and therefore not entitled to any child credit. I was working at the time but tax office was very unhelpful. Rang again today and someone else is referring it. They are thinking of ways not to pay!!! A colleague of mine has had a cheque for £648. so it is coming through, good luck everyone.0

Still haven't heard anything so called Maidstone tax office this morning and they are putting in a referral to their service team for them to process it if not already done/look into it. They say I should hear back within 72 hours.
Fingers crossed!

I sent mine in on January 20, first class mail. I received a letter from them last week stating that it was 'received after the deadline'. Should've sent it recorded delivery!0

I am sorry to hear that! I am now wondering if the same has happened to me because I sent mine off after that date. I will chase it up on Monday0
