Can you claim Children's Tax Credit from 2002/3?

I checked both my husband's and mine P60 before claiming so was surprised to get a standard "you've already received it letter". I rang them and was told by a very nice lady on the phone that she could see no reason why I was unsuccessful and arranged for my local tax office to call me which they did within 48 hours.
I was then told that my husband had tried to claim on his tax return but was not successful as he was not the highest earner at that point. Cheque was in the post!
Checked with my hubby and he didn't start doing tax returns until following tax year!! Funny!!
So cheque for £596 arrives, funny again because I thought it was higher if the child was born in 2002-2003 tax year and my son was born Dec 02, as I stated on my claim.
SO yet again I am awaiting a phone call from my tax office (because the 0845 number cannot help!)
So I would advise that if you are not succesful but equally not convinced then give them a call.0 -

Bother, just remembered that April 10th was the magic date that many have been given. As it's past now and I've heard nothing I guess I'll have to make a call and dig out my proof of posting. I hate making calls!:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

good luck
the original date they expected all claims to be dealt with was march, then it was changed to 10th april but you would only know if you called them. Maybe they have extended the deadline again
its always worth a call0 -
I still haven't heard anything and called thursday due to bank holiday and was told it is still not on my notes so I have to call back the end of next week, doesn't look good for me
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

I also called up on thursday to check they got my letter they requested with info on my then parnter and was told that they had not dealt with mail from the start of March yet  and that she would put a request to get it dealt with next week."I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. i submitted my claim 1st week of jan, and rang about 3 weeks ago and they told me to wait til 10/4, then rang last week and they said nothing on account and the magic 10/4 has now passed and nothing. sure i am entitled as husband was self emp then so wouldnt have known about it as i was doing tax returns too. What if they dont have claim? i dont have proof of posting???
anyone elso not heard yet?0 -
I have not heard yet either. I also gave lots of my work mates the information and a claim form in January and they have not heard either. I doubt I will get anything as I worked for the local council and wonder if they would sort this out automatically. I might give them a ring anyway.
Don't worry I am sure you will hear soon. Just a thought, if a refund is due and you normally get paid monthly, could this be refunded in your salary?
Cheers:D:D0
