I got 2 valentine mugs R & R a few days ago. CS lady was lovely but the old bag who went to check the price was AWFUL! She told CS lady that 97p was the REAL price but due to their policy I would HAVE to have the refund and mugs. She then proceeded to tear off all the 94p signs off the boxes. When I went in today the SEL now reads 94p. So how come the REAL price was 97p!! Should I complain or just let it go?:A OFFICIAL Boots Tart :A and member of the PAH! club :rotfl:

one to try for .
noticed that the navman 520i in ashby tescos has a sel of £159.99 .please note that the sel is a normal white one. is this the discounted 20% one or does the discount come of at the till. if no discount taken off at the till could i claim r+r?i don't half love a freebie0 -

In a word. no. All of the labels for the current promotion are yellow (i know because i put them out in our store), and the 520i has been discounted and if i remember correctly is less that 159.99. It would look like the store has neglected to put out a promotion label for this product and you SHOULD be charged 20% less than the SEL price when the product IS SCANNED.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

Just a thought , the chinese take away incident has been reported to Head Office by the stores, yet they still persist in ripping customers off.
Anyone that does not check their receipts is out of pocket by £1.40, having possibly been tempted to make the purchase by false advertising on the packaging.
Why have Tesco not corrected the overcharge - maybe they make a decent amount of money that more than compensates for the r&r'ers.
After all could they not have put the price reduction stickers on them as they do in many stores when the product is incorrectly labelled?
p.s. the crackers were delicious!0 -

Gameboy Advance Spyro Fusion: Sticker £12.92 Scanned £34.99!!!!
Gameboy Advance Crash & Spyro Super Pack 3: Stk £19.93 Scan £24.99
Nintendo DS Space Invaders: SEL £14.97 Scanned £19.99
Nintendo DS Golden Eye: SEL/Sticker £14.94 Scanned £14.97
Coke 24 can box (probably still wrong at Bristol Eastville & I've told them 4 times!) SEL £6.75, Pack price & scans at £6.95
Philips HTS3300 DVD Surround Sound system: SEL £129.97 scans £149.97
Chicken drumsticks (getting scarce now): Large SEL £1.99/kg Packs £2.49/kg
Pork Loin chops (special offer pack) Large SEL £2.08/kg Packs £2.08/lb or £4.60/kg.
Lastly:
The small cheese blocks that have the 3 for £3 offer on them and are usually £1.24 each. I always look at them (if I'm passing) and Bristol Bradley Stoke had all the different types at £1.17 or £1.19 on the SEL with £1.24 on the packs. They scanned at £1.24. This may be the start of more mistakes on these cheeses, like a few months ago! If you see them please remember don't buy more than 2 or the "3 for £3" offer will kick in and you won't be overcharged!
This weeks refunds £420+.
Thanks to all who helped make this week, nearly as good as last week!0 -
this is to spa2k/tars, reading previously posters saying about scanners and being seen scanning things by cs who could then refuse r&r, what are the instore scanners actually there for?0
-
also reading how somone im my local tescos was refused r&r on both of 2 products as it was deemed a bulk buy, this seems really unfair as i genuinly found a misprice on some steak i was buying for our saturday meal, as there is two of us then i get two packets, though i was refunded both in this case but am concerned if they change their mind on any future r&r`s where i have bought for both myself and my oh.0

I can't work out how to quote from many other messages so I'll have to leave the quotes I'm replying to out of this reply.
Thank you spa2k, Robert5686 and adie2001 for your comments and taking the time to reply.
Just to clarify - the price I paid was the un-crossed out price that was on the SEL. My argument was that the discount had not been applied to the SEL price at the POS like it had in the previous week when I purchased the CD and it did not state anywhere that the particular "laptop discount of 20%" had already been applied to the SEL price.
I do believe that I have a valid argument that the price is ambiguous but do also see the common sense view on things that may also be adopted by TS and therefore don't think it's worth the time and effort entering a lengthy correspondance that could just end up with an apology and nothing more. I believe that a good lawyer could argue the case that in the absence of a sign stating "SEL includes discount" the pricing policy is ambiguous but for the sake of a laptop costing less than £400 I'd rather keep my legal fees, time and sanity!
The thing that annoyed me most though was the way that the managers spoke to me and the fact that they would not let me take a picture or a copy of the SEL despite the fact they were maintaining that they were correct (I also asked the first manager to show me a copy of the previous week's 20% off sign that he claimed said "discount deducted at the till" but he could not). The tone of the store manager was particularly agressive and confrontational and as a result I would rather not purchase anything else from his store and will take my business elsewhere in the future (Asda looks like a good bet and is closer to me than Tesco).
I do not believe I was at all confrontational in my tone and merely stated the facts and politely asked for each manager to back up their claims by showing me the SELs concerned.
The only issue for me is whether I have to return to that particular store should my laptop develop a problem (assuming I keep it) or whether I can take it back to any store within the one year warranty (or even the manufacturer directly).
For the record I have only ever received an R & R once - I was overcharged by £10 for a Sony Hi-Fi last week and did not have any problem when I queried it with the Electrical desk. I have been overcharged in the past but queried the price at the POS which was immediately amended manually.
Sorry for another long post and thanks again for your thoughts!0 -

They are installed for customers to check prices on. I'm not aware of any processes give to stores that would require staff using them.
Now I vaguely remember being told something alone the lines of trading standards being more forgive if an odd SEL is completely missing if there is a scanguide available. Not sure how true that is though. Maybe just one of those silly rumours.0
