Tesco misprice policy discussion area part III

Just found this thread after nearly being over charged for 2 x 250g cadbury milk chocolate bars (not for me but my pregnant wife) at a Tesco Express store - Jersey Farm, St Albans. The price on them was something like 88p instead of the normal price of £1.40. Notice the till price said £1.40, instead of the 88p. Till assistant went with me and confirmed I was overcharged and offered me the difference and apologised. As I didn't know about this policy until now, I of course accepted the difference.
When I left the store I was a bit annoyed that you have to keep an eye on these offers as this isn't the first time I had to ask for the correct price.
Now I know of this policy I will differently be asking for R&R instead. Thanks for the info. :T0 -

Hi,
Message to GoodToTalk, I also live near Abingdon so go to the big Tesco Extra here.
I presume you go to the Cowley store (near Next, Burger King etc).
Would be happy to join in partnerships posting missprices!!

Yeah, yeah. My husband uses my pregnancy as an excuse too for buying lots of chocolate.;)tallica wrote:the only time i have so called abused the policy is when i got 6 crates of stella a week before xmas but then only because the cs lady told me to go back and get some more before she removed the label! !!!!!!i only had 2 orginally so even when you try and be honest tesco employees tell you to fill your boots! every week the same cs lady in one store says i dont know why you dont clear the shelves,my response "whats the point,i dont have enough room in my freezer,i can only listen to one cd at a time" my view is if you dont want it for your own use dont get it
ps,im sick of stella! think they would change it for jackdaniels :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
If you are a regular at Cannon Park, then the CS staff there are very "helpful" in this way, aren't they? Bless em, they probably think they're in danger of losing their jobs if they take advantage, but don't begrudge another!
If I can find some JD R+R, I'll swap for your stella!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

savingsgirl wrote:Ok, I have a question. This is the situation, you see a book, its price sticker is lower than its SEL. There are 8 books. You wouldnt have bought this book but because of RR you know you'll get it for free. How many do you take?
OK in an ideal world NONE but if I know I could use it as a present for someone who would love it 10 -

If this is so Tars, then how come they can reduce food etc by approx half, (think of the reduced shelf and the big yellow stickers, and also the 70% off clothing sale.) Now why would Tesco sell things for less than they paid for them, as they are losing a sale of a profitable peice of meat etc, everytime someone buys a reduced one.
Hope this makes sense.
Regards
Tinny
Because to get even 30% of original price is better than having to dispose of it and getting nothing, or even having to pay for its disposal through trade waste.0 -
tinnyboy_1 wrote:1/ when walking round your store, and you know from this site that, eg, Mars bars are mis-priced,(you would know this, not by deliberately seeking out mis-prices, but your mind cannot filter out all the misprice info it will read on this site), Then you would refrain from getting a member of staff to correct this mistake?
2/ if the above is correct, then you are actively condoning the overcharge that results from this, thereby ripping off lots of customers.
3/ if No1 is incorrect, and you are involved in the removal of the incorrect label/whatever, then you have inadvertantly used this site to gather info. Which you said you don't do.
I know that tars has answered this already but as I work in a store i guess the questions are more applicable to me so I will do my best to answer them.....
1. Absolutely not...if there is a misprice, be it over or under then the SEL needs to be changed. It is unacceptable not to mention illegal to display a misleading price.
2. I would never ever condone overcharging - and this would apply to the majority of Tesco staff/
3. Tars and myself do not visit this site to see what the misprices are. In Tars' case it would not matter as by his / her own admission (S)he is not in a store, in my case i have never actively checked any price errors that i have seen on here. The main reason is that I have faith in my team and their ability to do their jobs, with another reason being that on some lines i know the price change has been actioned (the mars banner being a case in point) and with the ever increasing workload we simply would not have time to check every single line mentioned on here. It would require a full time member of staff to check them all.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

It would only take a member of staff the same period of time it takes ourselves to look for them! and if they knew what they were looking for it wouldn't take any time at all

So your the reason I can never find an R&R at Cannon Park when I visit my OH at Warwick Uni!!! lol.
Also regarding an earlier points, just because its a sale doesnt mean its a reduction in profits. Many stores sell items at a loss on a sale. For instance, game/gamestation can sell items for as little as 1p just to clear them. Attracts customers, loyalty, gets them into the store maybe to purchase other items etc.0 -
Thanks to both yourself and Tars for taking the time to answer my questions.
I'm sure everyone values your input to this thread, be it good or bad or even indifferent, and I think even the peeps that argue the toss with you would agree.
BTW thin cut pork loin steaks mispriced at £2.09/kg Chorley store. HTH :T0
