Tesco misprice policy discussion area part III

I wasn't going to post this but yesterday at a different Tesco I got accused of being a shoplifter. I bought 3 DS games that were mispriced. The lass on the till couldn't get them out of the security box. Instead of calling a supervisor to remove them at another till she told me to go to customer services. Fair enough I thought as the queue was huge behind me. I queued up at CS only to be told because I was overcharged I'd need to go the electrical desk.
To the electrical desk I did trot and explained the story to the girl on the till. She told me I could have walked in off the street with a receipt for anything and taken the games off the shelf. Cheeky mare
She went to the till I was served at and found the lass had gone to lunch so she implied I mut have known the staffs shift patterns and picked a till where I knew the checkout girl was going to lunch.
Eventually got this sorted and wanted R+R, I got tod. most customers prefer just the difference. I wanted the R+R and the girl wouldn't do it saying I should have noticed on the till. I told her I was miles away at the time.
Anyway after about 30 mins of waiting for a manager who wouldn;t come I eventually got R+R but told it wouldn't be under guarantee as I'd not paid for product, tried to explain about my statutory rights but she was having none of it. Stupid woman. Anyway I gave up and kept the game but I was raging at being accused of theft.

Looks like Mr T may be sending round internal memos regarding R&R if they are all getting stroppy. Why oh why does Mr T not drop the full refund keep the item policy. I know we've had figures bandied about on here telling us how much he's losing/gaining but to a simple bloke like myself the mere fact the policy is retained would suggest Mr T is in front.0

will456, I think you can legitimately call the police in that case, as you've been deliberately defrauded. I guess it just depends who you get, as I was offered R+R yesterday on the DS game I bought immediately in the Slough store, though they almost undoubtedly are reading this thread (see comments above about removing the sticker on Smallville after I posted it here), I believe they also corrected the scan price of Retro Atari DS.
So for those of you tesco representatives at Slough reading this, how about you respond to the comments above directly, before TS and the police are involved?0 -
thanks for your advice hokers
i didnt realise i had any option left to me after the head office person told me there was nothing that could be done as the slough store deny removing the sels
i shall see if i can pursue this matter further as its a matter of principle0 -
Think I might invest in a new phone.

can i have your comments on what you think of staff removing sels and accusing the customer of being a liar. many thanks
Did the staff remove the label? I can't tell you that.
Might they have? Yep quite possibly. As I have said before the several hundred thousand staff who work for Tesco are all human beings and individuals. We don't have a staff cloning program. As a result different people behave in different ways. No offense to the original poster but the internet is a dangerous place to believe everything you hear as well. Back in the days when I was in store I had 2 occasions when customers contacted a manager about me and accused me of verbally abusing them including swearing and such. Both occasions were complete lies and motivated because I wouldnt reduce the price of products for those customers. The manager (and anyone else who knows me in person) would know in a second that these accusations were lies.
I think the most likely situation was that the staff did remove the labels in an attempt to cheat the customer out of his R&R in this case. Personally I think thats a f***ing shocking thing to do however there is no way I know to prove it either way(I wish there was!). The reason I asked in a previous post if the guy knew the exact date is because I can have a look at the system records. I doubt they will show anything but if I have some spare time (in my own time I might add) I think its worth a look. I wish I could prove exactly what happened but I can't.
Additionally the tone of your question sounds somewhat accusing. I'm not here so people can take out their Tesco related frustrations on me. I've said it before and I'll say it again I have seen ZERO communications either to stores or between stores to attempt to avoid giving R&R to customers. I believe any attempts to screw customers out of R & R are purely done by missguided and/or dishonest members of staff. In those situations I'm just as angry as the rest of you. As old fashioned as it may be I take pride in my work and I think I work for a good company. Sadly like everything else these days there are some individuals who spoil things.0 -
TARS you'll do for me!
Hope your posts don't affect your prospects with Mr T should management link you to this thread. If they do and you get potted just PM me and I'll send you some Persil Tabs (I've got plenty)0 -

I would like to echo EVERYTHING posted here by Tars, and although I DO work in a store and my job IS to ensure that the pricing is correct, I completely agree with all that Tars has said.
It has been said that my loyalty to my employer is misguided and I have been accused of ar**licking and trying to further my career simply by posting on this thread, none of which is true. What is true however is that like tars, i take pride in my work and I too think that i work for a good company.
Incidentally, I know the store manager from Slough from a good many years ago and I also know how customer orientated he is. I do not believe that he would partake in defrauding ANY customer. However, the OP may well have come across another manager that was not THE store manager.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

thanks for answering my question tars
Hi spa2k , im not questioning the managers involvement in this, when he came along the yellow sel and bigger yellow sign had been removed.
Whether he has any knowledge of the sel's being removed is simply conjecture.0
