savingsgirl wrote:Ok, I have a question. This is the situation, you see a book, its price sticker is lower than its SEL. There are 8 books. You wouldnt have bought this book but because of RR you know you'll get it for free. How many do you take?
would you read the book?? i see no point in getting something for free that just gathers dust ,i never buy any books i use a library but if its free and i would read it then i would get one
the only time i have so called abused the policy is when i got 6 crates of stella a week before xmas but then only because the cs lady told me to go back and get some more before she removed the label! !!!!!!i only had 2 orginally so even when you try and be honest tesco employees tell you to fill your boots! every week the same cs lady in one store says i dont know why you dont clear the shelves,my response "whats the point,i dont have enough room in my freezer,i can only listen to one cd at a time" my view is if you dont want it for your own use dont get it
ps,im sick of stella! think they would change it for jackdaniels :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::dance: " i wanna be the minority! " :dance:0 -
One thing to be careful of particularly when it comes to books. There is a software setting that can be set for particular products which when they are scanned through the tills it triggers a message to get the cashier to look for any stickers or other price marking on the product.
If this was set on say a book (on of the common items its used on) the SEL would show a higher price than the sticker. The customer scanguides would show the higher price however when you reach the till the message would prompt the cashier to check for any lower prices marked on the product and thats what you would be charged.
This setting often isnt used when it should be but just bear in mind when you see a product with a sticker on thats lower priced than the SEL its not an automatic R & R0 -
Hi everyone.
I had a rather unpleasant expereince at tesco's in slough on wednesday evening.
I noticed a dyson dc07 allergy with a yellow sel of £179.99 ish and a much larger yellow sign also showing as £179.99 ish .
I paid for the item and it went through the tills at £249.99 ish .
Off to customer sevices i go and told to go to the electrical desk. Once there i explained the situation and after the tesco's man and i went to the dyson display section to check the sel, a brief phonecall was made and i was offered the overcharge difference back.
I said about the tesco's policy of getting a full refund and keeping the item and thats where it all got rather nasty.
Out comes another man ( i later find out he is the bakery manager ) and off they go to i assume the dyson section .
After 5 mins of waiting i go to the dyson section and there are 3 people now there and they ask me to point out where it said the price of £179.99.
The bigger yellow sign is not there anymore and i say the sign has been removed, they deny removing it.
But the little yellow sel hasnt been removed ( there clearly not very efficient at covering the stores mistakes up lol )
I point to the yellow sel saying £179.99 ish and the bakery manager removes it from the shelf and they all move away from me and start whispering.
At this point another guy comes along ( i find out he is the manager ) and he talks to them then approaches me asking what the problem is.
I explain and he asks for me to show him the sel , i tell him that the bakery manager took the sel and the other bigger sign has been removed and i dont know where that is .
The bakery manager then denies removing the yellow sel .
After some heated words and me being called a liar , i say im going to call head office and report whats happened.
I head back to the electrical desk and am approached by another man who asks what has happened.
I explain all that has happened and he offers advice on who i should complain to etc.
I ask for a refund on all my shopping , nearly £300 in total and leave the shop vowing to not shop at tescos again
I call head office 1st thing thursday morning and issue my complaint.
Head office call back and say the store deny removing any sels . Case closed.
I congratulate all the tescos staff at the slough store involved , you saved Mr T from honouring his own policy. If only you put as much effort into making sure prices are correct in your store as you do as lying and cheating customers.
Every little helps MR T's profits.0 -
By curious coincidence back in January myself and 2 colleagues managed to get 3 of these Dyson hoovers. I took a photo of the SEL showing the £179 price. Got R+R no problem, however I went back to this store shortly after and got followed round the store by security accusing me of taking photos of SELs and deliberatly looking for wrong priced items. ooooohhhhh what they gonna do arrest me. Basically got told I was having no more refunds and was not welcome in the store. My colleague since learned that the Slough store since opening after the refit has lost over £500,000 due to R=R and shoplifters.0

Well whatever there losses are to R&R thats their own bloody fault for being well... useless. Stupid to blame customers for that in my opinion.0 -
In retrospect i think i was just unlucky that the bakery manager got involved ( i have no idea why he did ) , he is clearly a true tescos boy lol.
As regards to them accusing you of looking for mispriced items i still dont know why tescos staff just dont get there own house in order and have correct prices before they crimanalise shoppers.0 -

As I have said previously, I always try and accompany the CS to the price displayed on the shelf to prevent such unscrupilous behaviour. Sadly is it getting to the point where Tescos staff are actually committing a fraudulent act by deliberatly removing an SEL right in front of you and then denying it face to face with a manager and calling YOU the liar. If you were initially offered the difference, this is an admission of guilt by Mr T and acceptance that the price is actually £179.99 (irrespective of any R&R)
These people are pathetic excuses for human beings and I am absolutely disgusted.
I have to say, my phone has a recording feature on it, and I'd be using it if I thought this would happen to me. Then Mr Trading standards would be sent a copy.
I had this problem once in the tesco nearest to Catford, and luckily I had a friend there who after a minute followed the CS to the msiprice where she overheard a manager telling the CS to "try and get away with offering the difference - don't offer the R&R". The CS was so stupid that he actually offered me more than the difference because he simply couldn't do the maths. I got the R&R.
I am appalled at the practise some staff undertake. I hope these people feel proud of their actions.
Is now the time to actively list all the overprices people encounter and then submit them to TS, with comments on how we are treated and the underhand ways and countless excuses they use to get out of honouring their own advertised policy? Because it's no longer about R&R, it's about principle. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
