Maybe they wanted to remove the points from your card.
TBH if you use your clubcard with the purchase the details are on the receipt (and barcode if there is one), so they don't need to see sight of the card to "track" you. A quick scan of the receipt and with a few taps up come all your past purchases and R+Rs!

Hmmm....
Just got back from my local store. Chicken drumsticks, big yellow sticker on the shelf saying reduced price from £2.49 per kg to £1.99 per kg. The packs were all mixed up - some at £1.99kg and some at £2.49...
Took 2 at £2.49, and went to CS and said the SEL stated the price as £1.99 per kg.
CS said new policy was (get this) the SEL was as INDICATION only of the price, because the actual price (for weighted items) was on the pack. So gist of this was - regardless of the fact that customer sees big special offer sticker stating reduced price and thinks "oooh, only £1.99 per kg, that's a good price", the customer HAS NOT been overcharged when he gets home and checks the shopping to find that bargain pack at £1.99 per kg was actually charged to him at £2.49 per kg, because the price for that actual pack is stated on the pack... so I guess we all have to walk round with a set of scales too, just to double check what we are being charged per kg, as you can't rely on those great big signs they put on the shelf!
Couldn't be bothered to argue this one, but that doesn't seem like a clear pricing policy to me, does it??
Oh, and as a side note - remember those great big signs stating the 6 packs of Mars were reduced from £1.18 to £1.05.... check the price now folks!!!0 -

Firstly, I agree, you have been overcharged.
However, the price per kg is indicated on every pack as is the price that you WILL be charged at the checkout. You stated that there were two different prices per kg on the shelf and by choosing the higher pre priced packs (which incidentally would have had a shorter code life) you knew that you were going to be charged the higher price.
Personally, i think that CS were wrong and that the SEL is not simply an indication and the fact is that the store should have repriced the line, however you chose the higher priced products and KNEW what you were going to be charged.
So, if you know what you are going to be charged, how can it be an overcharge?
As a genuine question, what is the price of the mars now?Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

I'm guessing that if your going to get the product for free your not going to get the clubcard points for buying it. Thus they want your clubcard to void off the points. Thats a pure guess though.0 -

If I know im intentionally haveing a r+r i dont use my clubcard and i pay cash!
If in any case I do use clubcard the cs staff at my neasrest stores never take the points bk off me I guess it depends upon the person who deals with you! I think maybe some staff maybe a little bitter because you are getting a product for free and they think there not getting their points and a free product! Which is fair enough really if you are not paying for it you dont qualify for the points really!!0 -
Mars are now £1.29 I think - can't remember exactly but it was defo much higher than the crossed out figure of £1.18 when they seemed to imply the new price was going to be a permanent £1.05....!0

I recall someone saying it's been around for much longer than that, but I can't be sure.
I seem to remember Ben500 saying he'd been getting freebies this way for the past 10 years...and it was only a couple of years ago that they stopped doing R + R on undercharges.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

To all you Rand Rers, IF YOU WANT TO AVOID BIG T TRACKING YOU THEN YOU MUST PAY CASH AND NOT USE CLUBCARD. He desperately wants info and id on RRers to ban us persitent freebie hunters. But purchasing that way he will have a job to know who you are. Good hunting!0

Hi, Has anyone else had problems using coupons this week, Just back from my local Mr T's and for the first time ever was not allowed to use coupons [somerfields]. Lady incharge of self scan check out appologised and said that they had instructions as from last Monday that no coupons from other retailers are now allowed, and that product coupons can only be used when purchasing relevant item. She was quite embarrased about it as I had already put £1 coupon through and had to void it. If I was paranoid I would say they are watching but this particualr lady is wonderful and has always let me use them in the past, so I am sure she is telling the truth. They must all be tighteneing up as had similar in Asda the other week, but they are now alright again.0
