Richard Ashcroft CD - SEL said 9.97, Chart Poster said 8.97 (In a little blue bubble).
McFly CD - SEL said 5.97, Chart Poster said 4.97 (in little blue bubble)
CS argued first that this was due to 20% off - I said it wasn't as the figures didn't add up. She then fetched the SEL label - I then took her to see the poster - instant R and R without asking!!
She then proceded 1 minute later to take down the poster (which was dated 28th Jan)
Yes!!!!
How many of you have got the Technica DVD player R and R?? Thinking of getting this tomorrow if I can.
How does this work? I thought if had SEL price higher and Poster lower then Tesco would just argue that the poster price was correct and should have seen it if scanned at higher?Titch0 -

Those big yellow SEL's boasting price reductions - always read the tiny print .."offer ends....suchnsuch a date" at the bottom on them.
If the date has passed - winner!!!! Product will scan higher as programmed to do so.
Today got 6 bottles of Jacobs Creek shiraz cabernet r+r to wash down my r+r roast beef with, with such a date expired SEL (31 Jan)
These are local mistakes, just have to keep eyes peeled.
Hmm.....lots of the current "offer ends..." are dated 28/2/06.
Note in diary - 1st March -must go to Tescos!!!!
Cheers!
Can you do that if it clearly states offer ended as date in the past? I would have thought they would point that out and say you cannot have lower price as offer ended? Sorry new to all this R&R and find it a bit confusingTitch0 -

They will probably try that very argument.
If it's the only visible price for the product then regardless of the expiry date on it IMHO you are entitled to an R+R. The question to ask the CS is if that price has expired, could they show where the correct price for the product is displayed as legally required under the "Price Marking Order 2004".
If there are 2 prices visible of a similar size, for the same product, and the lower one has an expiry date *clearly* shown, then CS may have a valid argument.
However under the "Price Marking Order 2004" prices must be:
"unambiguous, easily identifiable and clearly legible"
A small expire date on a SEL on the top shelf isn't clearly legible, and where two prices are shown for the same product it probably fails the unambiguous test. You may have a battle with a nasty CS, but quoting the Price Marking Order 2004 is usually enough to bamboozle them in to backing down.
The bottom line is a customer shouldn't need to check the small print on every SEL to work out how much a product costs. If it has a big bold yellow SEL saying "£12.97" in front of the product, that's the price a reasonable person would expect to pay, and if overcharged then you'd reasonably expect an R+R.

Does anyone know if 24 packs of Coke are still scanning at £6.95 today?

I'm not sure what you mean. The poster price WAS the lowest price. The SEL was the higher price. I told CS that the price I saw was on the chart poster. If they had said I should have seen the SEL then I would have claimed that the CDs I chose were not in the correct place on the shelf, therefore used the poster to obtain the price.
Does that make sense?0 -
Rufus - in my local store they have taken the £6.75 sign down and left the £6.95 SEL on, so I presumed that they are still scanning at £6.95.

Was in My local Tesco today browsing the books for something new to read and I noticed that the neil cross heartland book was stickered at £2.96 but the sel was £3.73 and what a surprise I took it to the checkout and was charged the higher price even though that was the more expensive price of the two prices displayed :-( Went to Cs and got a R+R no probs I wasnt even offered the difference first, I didnt even have to ask! And the cs assistant didnt even toddle off to take the stickers off! So Mr T is still overcharging those customers who dont check there receipts tut tut! Anyway I got my first R&R so am very pleased, I will enjoy the book even more now that its free!0

The individulas who are pleasant, smile etc and give R&R without any probs realise it is not their money and hence perform the task they are paid for pleasantly. The TESCO stores near me are always on the ball and don'y even have large posters up.
There are a number of things that can cause this I think. Its easy to fall into the habit that the customers are the opposition. I know thats not the politically correct thing to say but in all honesty with the selection of guys these people have to deal with its not an easy job. Additionally if they hand out R&R's hand over fist chances are some manager will be on their case about it. Don't get me wrong I'm certainly not excusing this behavour but I can certainly understand why it happens. Don't get me started or I'll start to share some of my tales about less than wonderful customers0 -
Does anyone know what are the best times or days of the week to go hunting for RRs?
For instance if a product is on offer till 4th. Feb then at what stage are the till prices adjusted upwards? Would the price hike on the till automatically take place at one min. past midnight on the 5th or is it hit and miss as to what time on the 5th. the tills scan the higher price. Assuming tills are adjusted so they bring up the price increase at one min past minight then when do staff get round to taking the old sells away......I suspect not until majority of staff are in which could be 8am.0
