24 Series 4
Tried to go for this today saw 19.97 on the SEL
Went to CS after paying £20.97 - 20% and took the lady to see the SEL only to find it had been replaced with £20.97 the CS lady said there was nothing she could do!
I will be taking it back tomorrow for refund, but did feel quite miffed that I didn't take a photo. You win some and you lose some.
I think someone got in there just before me as there was one missing already or are they using those cameras!0 -

When I got the TV C/S refused to give me back my receipt as they needed to keep it as proof......I did ask politely that if something should go wrong in the 1st year how would I get it sorted only to be told that it's a freebie what's the problem!!!!!!,I stayed calm and polite and said that it was my proof of purchase and therefore my property and they would be taking what rightfully belongs to me,in the end of about 5 mins of c/s refusing the duty mgr was called and he said to write out a receipt with £0.00 purchase for the tv.
if you bought on a card you'll have proof of purchase on your statement with Tescos on there,it'll be upto them to prove it's not what you say it was for as they kept the receipt.

Sparky67 wrote:Had my first taste of hassle today from Tesco management - yesterday I bought the Sony CD system - they were mispriced not only on the shelf, but also on a large end of aisle display stacked about 8 high with a large print price label stating the price as £59.92. The new price of £69.92 was nowhere to be seen, not even on the SEL, so they could hardly claim the old price had been left as a mistake after the offer finished... anyway, I got an R&R yesterday without any quibble, and when doing so I quite definately told the CS lady that they were not only mispriced on the SEL but also on the large stack at the end of the aisle, so its not like they weren't made aware of their mistake.
Today, 24 hours later, I was in the same store, and lo and behold - they were still there with the same large print label stating the price at £10 less than the customer would get charged at the checkout! So, I picked up another 2 - I will keep my original one, my daughter will have another and I'll keep the other for a pressie later in the year...
CS then wheeled out a manager who said that I had already had a refund yesterday, and the policy was not a legal obligation, but one of goodwill (which he obviously thought I was misusing). On this occasion they would honour the misprice and give me an R & R, but in future I would only get the difference refunded.
I did remind the manager that I had clearly informed them that their display was wrong and misleading in the extreme, and yet 24 hours later the price was still there.
My point is, if people see the display and pop one in their trolley thinking they've got a good deal, if they buy it with a trolley full of shopping, unless they carefully check their receipt they could be blissfully unaware that they have been charged nearly 20% extra to what they thought.... and even though this was quite clearly bought to their attention and was easy to rectify, they chose to do nothing about it! They might not have a legal obligation to R&R, but they do have a legal obligation not to mislead the public with their prices!!
The policy does allow the manager to limit the number of an individual item than you can R&R to stop you buying every single one of the CD systems and walking out. However the policy isn't written to cover the £$%*)( stupidity of a store knowing about the R&R yet not doing anything about it allowing you to go back a day later and do that same thing. At this point I am sorely tempted to ask you which store and date it was so I can get the info on the transactions then go and contact the stores management and ask them how a customer managed to get R&R on a product two days running. Depending on how motivated you are and how you feel about Tesco you could set Trading standards onto the situation. The key with trading standards is for Tesco to show that they make an acceptable effort to ensure the prices are displayed correctly. However the example you have given shows that store is NOT making an acceptable effort in my opinion.0 -
nannaC wrote:You could always go back to see if it is still there. When the other pc's were wrong last autumn I got one the day after The Pearce and there were still 3 left at wrong price an hour after we had been to CS re overcharge by coincidence we both arrived at the same time and said snap. Just a note though am still followed round that particular Mr T's [Blackpool] and to be fair they have tightened up on their misprices somewhat though a few still occur.
Nice thought to go back but I live 175 miles away, hopefully somebody local managed to snap it up0 -

I saw your original post regarding the treatment you suffered, and was shocked, but must have gone to bed early that day, as didn't see the store name, and today is the first day I have come back to the thread (been busy looking for a car - if only I could get one on r&r from Tesco!!)
When I saw the store name tonight, I was even more shocked than when I read your original post. Handforth Dean is my local store (or one of them) and I can honestly say it is one of the best stores I have been to for r&r!!! The CS staff have always been very pleasant and helpful. I know this doesn't help you in any way shape or form, but had to post just to say how astonished I am!! Was telling my OH the story, when I told him the store name he was amazed!!
(They are also very good on refunds on CDs (or have been in the past) and have given me refunds when I have taken unsealed CDs back saying I had bought the wrong one, when their policy is not to take them back anymore.)
Sorry for what you went through - there is no excuse, and glad you got your r&r. Hope that you have followed it up further with HO/police to try to find out what happened to staff member?
Slightly off topic, regarding previous posts about being watched "by upstairs" etc I actually managed to walk out of a Tesco store with two large pieces of pork and a pint of milk which I hadn't paid for as had put them in the bottom of son's pushchair and forgotten about them! I am not advocating anyone try this, obviously!! It was a genuine mistake (which I put down to having very few brain cells left, following pregnancy!) I know they have fantastic security systems, but they obviously didn't work this time. Because I am so honest, I went back into the store, told them their security wasn't up to much, and went and paid for the items. Was told that if they see people putting things in pushchair baskets, they are usually watched very closely!!! To be quite honest, I wouldn't notice if anyone was following me round a store or not, and am just glad that I didn't get stopped on the way out as I would have been extremely embarrassed!!AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0024 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the Ebay and other auctions, Car Boot and Jumble Sales Board0 -
went to tescos today, was surprized to see xbox poster stating top 20 under 29.99,
i got three went throu checkout with some other stuff paid checked my reciept to find i had been given £22.59 discount on the games, i went to CS they called the entertainment lady i took her to see the poster, she agreed i had indeed been over charged and sent me back to CS, CS lady went of to see manager and came back saying i had not been overcharge cos with the discount the games were under 30 and she would refund the extra off my reciept, i pointed out the policy notice and she phoned the manager who came and tried to tell me that with the discount the games were under 30 pounds, i explained that one game scanned at 39.99 and even with the 20 per cent off it was still over 30 quid, pointed out that it should have been under 30 and then 20 per cent off, he told CS lady to give full refund , she gave me £112.95 , but she must have forgot about the 20 percent as she gave me that too, my whole shop was £105.55, so i was paid £7 to shop and all my shopping for free!Another day another R&R

HI
Just been down to do my weekly shopping at Tescos, I buy fruit shoots for my childrens lunch boxes and the label on the shelf (underneath all the flavours) stated 2 for £3.50 then there was one large sign stating 2 for £4.00. I was charged £4.00 but when I queried it with a member of staff she said as it states offer ends 31.1.06 in tiny writing on the label I couldn't get a refund - is this right?
Thanx

Did you pay by card? That would prove the transaction took place!0

Been reading this thread... This sounds a lot of fun. Tesco baiting !!!
I dislike Tesco's but have to shop there more than others because they are open when I can get to shop (24 hrs).
Had a few low price refunds, not much a few pounds and pence.
Will look out a lot more carefully from now on ..The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0
