Not been banned but Tesco Quedgley have given me a really hard time recently - last time I was faced by several members of staff, 2 managers and a security guard - all over a £4.97 CD - see my earlier posts if you want the full story!!

Do you think user the instore scanner alerts 'them upstairs' to you trying to find a misprice or am I being paranoid pete? I always feel a bit dodgy as I approach the scanner and try DVDs/CDs etc!

I have a 3 year old with me and she has to pay for everything at the scanner so I just have a little check then
  • New to this thread, just wondering, the cd's and game's have security clear boxes on them, can you still get them to scan ok or do you have to go ask someone? Just want to be fully prepared!! Couple of cd's mentioned I'd quite like!! Thanks.

I noticed a member of staff with a big trolley of assorted stuff checking prices at the scanner today.
Have also noticed that magnetic strips on cds seem to be deliberately stuck over the bar code in the cases where you could otherwise scan it because its in the box style of case.

Online Tesco is selling the 'Bodyform' packs, with £1 voucher on for 98p.
Yet at my local Tesco they are £1.02 SEL and through the till. So does this count as a misprice or not?
I know the principle is different SEL and charged price, but at every other store I've been to they are only 98p.
In fact I didn't even notice till I got home, just assumed that they were 98p and used the £1 vouchers anyhow.
    Does anyone know please?

The store they are 4p more in, is Canary Wharf, maybe that's the reason? Overcharging because they can there?

    IT'S CALLED SUPPLY AND DEMAND

if something is in heavy demand in a particular area, shops increase the price..........if something is in low demand, shops decrease the price to stimulate trade

its also a good way of inventory management, if you're selling so much of an item that your stocks will run out too quickly, increase the price, items sell slower then.....

there is nothing immoral about it, it's just good business practice!

    I presume that's a Tescos METRO.

AFAIK Metro and Express tend to have some slightly different prices / offers to normal and Extras. I guess the stores are smaller and probably (in London anyway) pay much higher rent and staff costs.
